you mean when the audience asks conan randumb questions irrelevant to media and celebrities, and he answers each one with esoteric details, sometimes in a foreign language?

Nah that's not it.

It's something like "Jay on the Tonight Show has had success with his 'jaywalking' segments, so we are going to try to grab some of that success for ourselves!"

So he goes out and asks something like what state is Mt Rushmore in, or what's the capitol of Australia, and everyone gets it right.

ah, i've never seen that before. not the religious conan watcher i used to be during college.

on his first show, there was "actual items," a spin-off from leno's "headlines." i think headlines is pretty amusing, but leno's show overall is a pretty generic brand of humor that reaches out to a large audience. i wonder what changes will happen with conan when he takes over the 11:30 slot. i don't find the masturbating bear and other sophomoric stoner comedy amusing anymore, and i don't think the 11:30 viewers will either. but conan is a genius, i envy his quick wit.
