Might be old news by now, but these things are supposed to start going up soon....they're going to be massive. Overall, 42 new 500 ft + towers have been approved or started in downtown Charlotte, including the new Wachovia headquarters building. The skyline to that city is about to explode.

But still awesome news...I'm amazed at how much construction and how many high-rises are going up here. It's gonna be sweet. 7/25/2008 8:48:47 AM |

my company was supposed to do the foundation for a trump building in philadelphia. we did a loadtest on a demonstration shaft on the site in december, and construction was supposed to start a week after. we have still yet to do anything on that job, it's totally stagnant.
point being, i suspect there is a possibility that this never gets built. that's a really really good looking building if it does, though. 7/25/2008 9:06:07 AM |

This is a pretty hot project, but they put a hold on the project about two months ago (it was in the paper and made the news) and they will revisit the feasibility of development in 3-5 years as they predict that is when the housing market will go back up. The odd things is, Charlotte, like Raleigh, hasnt been hit by the housing market and Uptown is doing much better than the burbs with less than 2% unoccupancy rates for commercial high rises.
I have had fun watching them build this right outside my office window for the past year: http://www.catalystcharlotte.com/index.htm and of course this in front of the office: http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=504046 which is about 25 floors right now id say. 7/25/2008 10:14:48 AM |

Shouldnt Howard Dean be in DC trying to ruin the Energy bill with the other Democrats? I guess we will just have to wait till after congress vacation for them to approve the bill with tons of liberal pork barrell add-ins 7/25/2008 1:47:48 PM |
