I'm having a hard time trying to decide what wheels I want to buy (when that time comes).
Here's my current choice: XD Revolver, 18x9, Matte Black
(the center caps are totally gay, I'd do something about them if i bought the wheels)
-I've thought about getting the existing wheels widened to a 9-10" width (havent done any research).
garage patrons, what do you think?

Something to consider, regarding widening your wheels. Aren't the centers of these actually the outer lip as well?? I don't know if those could be widened the same as a wheel with a standard center welded into a rim shell.
I like the wheels you posted.

yeah, see, I'd be trashy enough to run the wheels without the center caps.
also, tire size of choice is 285/60-18's. very common size, can't go wrong there

yeah, ive been looking at the M/T classic II's in the 20x9
now my issue lies with the fact that im currently rubbing at full lock with 29" OD tires. 20's would get me around 31ish with a 285/50-20 which is a common size, and cheap ($130ish).
I could go 18's, but to match the 29" OD i'd have to go 285/50-18... but those are $180 each. 12/6/2008 11:06:26 PM |

sorry, it scrubs the inner fender area that faces the tire, not the area(s) on the inside of the well where typical scrubbage occurs. bigger OD or more offset would increase the problem... but it might not be anything a BFH cant fix

those pro comp alloys are hot... that's my pick thus far hands down. i like the mt's also as was mentioned in the other thread, but it is SUCH an old, worn out look. the only thing saving them is being 20's. who are we kidding though, if you were any kind of real baller you'd be up on dem fo's right NOW.
on the rubbing issue, unfortunately that's a common problem with dodge. they have huge 'wells, but never fit that big of a tire without some work. i dunno if it's an issue of optical illusion, scrub radius, ackerman, or what. anyway, you can get a little room back there. you can't just trim them though, there is absolutely no way to make that not look like absolute shit with all the multiple walls and shapes those fenders have. first, pull that gay ass plastic liner if you have it. that's like 1-2" there. then. commence to beating the shit out of it with a bfh. cut out/tub areas as need. i know you ain't skeered of meltin metal.
tire (dick?) measuring 101- the general rule of thumb for measuring height with them still on the vehicle is to add an inch to the reading you get. 12/7/2008 1:39:26 AM |

it's a 2nd gen. yeah, you can fit them in but they'll scrub at the locks like ^ said. if you try different offsets you change the radius the tire moves at and end up scrubbing the front and rear of the wheel wells when turning. it's nothing terrible, they just scrub and you back off the steering a little

yeah, mine is an slt and they've scrubbed since we got it. only time I really notice it is when making a u-turn. Have over 150k miles on it and the only thing that's given me trouble were the ball joints. Think I've replaced them twice already and getting ready to put some more on it. ^^i do like those wheels and thought about them for my shit. however, i couldn't find any procomp wheels that had the offset i was looking for. they all either a 0 or -xx offset and would cause them to stick out. mine are a +14 which helps them tuck in a little. 12/8/2008 9:38:33 AM |
