^ Carolina Beach is great - for camping at least. Definitely dog friendly.
This is pretty sad for my first post. 7/28/2008 10:23:28 PM |

i can vouch for Carolina Beach
just watch out for the douchebags that camp out with infants on the 4th of july and demand that you keep quiet on the shore at 10pm.

I swear that more idiots come out there since they started charging. It's funny to watch the beach patrol chase people driving below the high tide line or acting like idiots. You'd be fucked if you were trying to fish.
and you just gotta have the dogs on a leash this time of year.

^^, sarcasm. I'm agreeing with the sentiment that people who bring their kids to a public beach and then want the surrounding people to be quiet can fuckoff. They should have more sense than that and should not try to impose the crimp in their style to others.

State park out on highway 12 on the Outer Banks. I cannot not remember the name of the park. There are a couple out there. Loads of fun and cheap. 7/29/2008 8:10:35 AM |

Shackleford Banks/Lookout. You can have dogs, but they have to be on a leash. Just find a beach where noone is camping, and you should be fine. My wife and I went out there a few weeks ago, and the no see ums were awful. 7/29/2008 8:51:29 AM |

yeah i took my dog to Carolina Beach and camped a few years ago.
just fyi, it was miserable trying to sleep. try sleeping in 90 degree heat, with a sunburn, on a sandy airbed, with a dog breathing in your face. not fun. 7/29/2008 9:10:37 AM |

^ sleep in a laid out beach chair and blanket at the tide line. When youre TKO, it makes no difference 7/29/2008 9:23:53 AM |

ha. I have a lounge chair just for that purpose. I've lost count of how many times I've slept in that thing. Either that or get in the truck and recline the seat all the way back. Airbed in the back of the truck also works. 7/29/2008 10:17:15 AM |

love sleeping in the truck bed - you get the perfect amount of breeze, not too cold, not too hot 7/29/2008 10:21:33 AM |

It doesn't help that much. Waking up at 6:00 a.m. after three hours of sleep; baking in a 100 degree tent, and covered in sweat makes for a long drive back to Raleigh.
I camp on the beach in the fall, winter, and spring. During the summer I crash on couches though.7/29/2008 10:29:01 AM |
