CANTON – A Canton man was arrested last week for allegedly breaking into a woman’s house and stealing a sex toy.
According to warrants, 48-year-old Scott Gillis Murray, of Murray Road, allegedly broke into a home off of N.C. 110 on July 25 and stole “one adult toy personal entertainment device and one bottle of personal lubricant.”
Haywood County Sheriff's deputies arrested Murray Saturday and charged him with felony burglary, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony possession of stolen property. He was released on $3,000 unsecured bond.
He is due in Waynesville District Court Aug. 13. 7/29/2008 10:11:54 AM |

This reminds me of a 20/20 episode I saw a couple weeks ago. They were talking about sex censorship in America and cited some specific examples of how government took things a bit far when saying what grown adults can and can't do in a private setting. For example, in Alabama it's illegal to sell sex toys. You can read the article (although the video was far better) here: http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/Story?id=5390158
Here are some of my favorite quotes from it:
Quote : | "...But then came the ban on adult sex toys.
Sherri Williams' husband, Dave Smith, said there's something odd about the law.
"You know in the state of Alabama I can buy a gun," he said. "I can carry it in my pocket."
But if he buys a vibrator, someone could get arrested and fined up to $10,000 — almost five times the limit for drunken driving. " |
Quote : | "Who's the government protecting? It's not as if anyone has been killed by a vibrator. " |
Quote : | ""They will have to pry this vibrator from my cold dead hand before I stop selling them," she said." |
I should add that I was watching this with my uncle and grandmother. The humor and awkwardness levels were at their peak. 7/29/2008 12:43:31 PM |
