[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 2:29 AM. Reason : you aren't tripping on paint primer btw...]

[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 2:30 AM. Reason : and did you really need to read the caution labels to realize paint fumes aren't exactly oxygen?]

a) you aren't tripping. if you are tripping then go to sleep and stop looking at a computer screen.

b) if you had brain damage it wouldn't come in the form of smelling like paint forever.

c) go to sleep, you will be fine when you wake up

go to sleep.

staying awake can only make it worse. (and you're just going to whine more)

you have the classic case of paint boogers, the volatiles condense on your nose hairs and mucous membranes, blow your nose, pick out the sticky blobs, and deal with the hairs that are stuck to them

you should try painting farm equipment with epoxy from a hvlp gun

Been painting for YEARS. I mean, since I was 17, professionally. Most water-based home paints might make you a little dizzy, but they are, for the most part, not an inhalation hazard. Oil-based, or alkyd resin, is a little different, as the vehicle usually contains Stoddard solvent (which usually has a trace of benzene in it as a partial distillate when making mineral spirits/Stoddard solvent), and that can definitely get you a little goofy.

But there should be no long-term effects from the bit of inhalation you've been doing. Industrial paints with epoxy and/or urethane resins, as well as some of their catalysts (which contain di-isocyanates) pose much more of an inhalation hazard, both from an allergy perspective and an organic solvent perspective. Even common industrial enamel contains xylene and toluene, as well as a host of other solvents which pose inhalation and transdermal hazards. Some even contain lead (yellows, mostly). House paint? Nah...

I had to paint my entire place in Raleigh with primer before I moved out- but I didn't start until 2 days before I left so I could still smell it almost everywhere.

I also used a little here (only one wall repainting)- and there's no more paint smell. I'm sure it'll be fine
