do you really want a membership, or are you just looking to buy a couple things? 8/2/2008 4:20:04 PM |

costco, because sam's is very much oriented towards business owners. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but somehow, I don't think you need to pick up catering supplies and powerwashers on the regular. Costco is more geared toward families, which is a double-edged sword: more suitable variety, less in the way of savings.
BJs sucks. They aren't priced competitively at all.
Costco is where my bf and I have our membership. I'm kinda ~ on them, but I don't know if that's because I can't shake my preference for Sam's, seeing as how my parents have kept a membership at sam's for at least 15 years. And I abhor Wal-Mart - that should tell you something, that I'm willing to give money to the same company.
Plus, living in Garner, Sam's on S Saunders is more convienent
For me, it's something of a non-issue, since I have access to both. My mom and I look so much alike that I can use her card, and it's not like the door guys at Sam's look closely anyways
^What he said. What are you considerations?

looking to save a little chedda
im also buying a new house in march, and i will be throwing all my stuff out back and covering it with leaves rather than move it, so i need to buy new furniture and shit down the road. 8/2/2008 4:23:11 PM |

Just wait for one of the two to have a deal on tires, and then decide. They're pretty comparable when it comes to tires, if neither is having a sale.
Furniture selection at both...eh. I imagine it might be better, overall, at costco, what with them catering to private individuals more so than sam's. 8/2/2008 4:25:29 PM |

if you're going to throw out all of your POS furniture (b/c if it was any good, you'd move it with you), then why would you consider buying some new pieces of crap from sams/costco/bj's? why not save yourself money and purchase something you can keep long-term?

the sam's club membership pays for itself if you just buy milk there vs. food lion for the whole year
probably already been stated, but they have the student discount thing. my gf and i just got a membership there a few weeks ago with the student discount. $40 like normal, but you get a $15 gift card.

Costco for the gas. Cheapest in Raleigh. You can only use an American Express card...a debit card or gift cards there I believe (maybe also checks/cash). The one in Raleigh is convenient to me from N. Raleigh so I go there a lot. I finally got a membership...I used to just pay my parents and get gift cards to buy gas, but even if you go there for the gas the membership will pay off by the end of the year. I got myself an American express card as well since it was easier than using my Debit 8/2/2008 5:33:04 PM |
