if i was a christian i sure as hell wouldn't need to support my faith based on showing other (crazy) people that i could regularly attend church and work my way through the ranks of the childish politics involved in a church.

Not for many years now. My mom was a public school teacher, my dad was in the army and then a car salesman, in a small town in NC. It seems like all the ingredients for a church going family, but going on a regular basis for my family kind of dwindled away by the time I was in middle school which was also true of many of my friends and their families growing up. If thats happening to ordinary families in Mayberry (Mt. Airy, NC), then I wonder how many families with people our aged as the heads of household are going to feel a need for church involvement to be a part of their religious beliefs.

I'm not really getting into what I think of church/religion, but I do think there will be a lot more No's now than if you asked this question at the same time last generation.

I go fairly frequently. It's not a do or die thing for me, I just like the pastor at my church because he puts an effort into teaching the historical significance of whatever verse is coming up that day. Our church also isn't corrupted by BS politics. There's no altar calls or pushy requests for donations, and there's a nice diverse mix of people that attend the church.

Not every church is catholic.

this is the only thing i like about churches. at least they attempt to help people (i mean with food, etc)....even though the reasoning isn't the greatest.
