eh, a bunch of hairpins and short chutes without a lot of rhythm isn't so much fun
especially with fucking buses on the roads
one of the best in the world is in NC, though policing has been iffy for a while

I hear they're policing it hard now. Nice job...kill your cash cow, the only thing that props up the economy in that region of bumfuck egypt. 8/6/2008 6:11:50 PM |

WOW you make good points as far as rhythm let's just assume the road is closed just for you and your dream car tho.... 8/6/2008 6:11:51 PM |

there are a lot of cars with a lot of power and speed
but the truly great cars are handling machines
and hairpins and straights don't accentuate the handling
rhythm sections do
the two most fun sections of VIR, for instance, as the uphill esses and the hurry-down section on the back that ends at hog pen...the backstretch isn't nearly as fun as sitting the car down as you turn on to the pit straight 8/6/2008 6:16:00 PM |

on a real note, the road to hana in maui might be fun if all of the pavement was in good shape. when i went on it some of it was not 8/6/2008 6:39:49 PM |

It's very pretty, but I don't know if it would be considered awesome to drive on for the thrill of driving. Maybe if there were no other cars on the road...8/6/2008 6:51:32 PM |

Tail of the Dragon FTW!!!!!
I think that they just don't want alot of newbs there. that's why people get killed. when I used to race we went there. It was crazy fun. I think you should not try this road unless you have had SCCA driving training or are a trainer. The cops don't worry as much with that. I would do the roads around here and some blueride ones. I kinda remember a skyway something.
oh yeah I like top gear and love road to Hana

it's decent for a road in the middle of raleigh. outside of that perspective, it ain't shit. 8/7/2008 1:30:59 AM |

old liberty road certainly has some curves to it, but the problem is that it's very hard to see other cars with all the hills and trees. and the one lane bridges that can only be seen once you're right up on them don't help. a friend of mine's dad got pretty messed up in a wreck because two kids were racing. one of them hit him head on, the driver of that car died at the scene.
like XSMP said, if you knew there were no other cars on the road... or if you can keep your shit in the right lane. 8/7/2008 1:38:55 AM |
