I absolutely hate clear rum usually, but my favorite rum of all time actually happens to be clear. Its called Ornoco, and is Brazilian. Its the only Brazilian Rum I have tried so can't attest to any other ones though.

^ A lot of people don't realize it but there's a lot of really expensive liquor that you're meant to add water to. It's considered common practice to add high quality cold water to high end single malt scotch so that the taste can be appreciated through the alcohol.

^^To be fair- in terms of sales Budweiser could be called our national drink and it tastes like carbonated piss. Our national drink of merit would probably be bourbon though; hard to compare that to Brazilian testicle rum

Cachaca is fucking disgusting. And I think you have to make a Caipirinha PERFECT for it to taste good. Most of the time that shit nasty.
