For the past couple of weeks, I've been posting on Craig's List in an attempt to find comic teachers to start on a comedy club concept that I might pursue. What I'm finding is that even though I'm younger than everybody who has responded, they don't seem to care. It even took my about two weeks to get back to these people, but they still respond.
I don't know whether to attribute it to my rhetoric or to the fact that funny people just want to be paid, no matter how marginal their art or resume is. I guess they're all fat children and I'm holding the golden twinkie.

No other threads doing this. Basically, it's a 3-in-1 club [stand-up, improv (SF+LF), and sketch] wherein the club makes money off of training, shows, and booze, but the performers make money off of YouTube ad-sharing revenues, in addition to a minimum cost (probably $12/show).
It's pretty much a lame progressive attempt to get people paid and to keep the comedic art new and exciting through a corporate model that is most likely doomed to fail. Maybe I could make this a non-profit, like those credit card payment adjusters? LoL.8/7/2008 5:34:48 PM |
