Surprised there isn't a thread on this already. Anyone going? I've never been to Koka Booth, but it appears to be pretty rad. Do they allow tailgating or excessive drinking in the parking lot?

i will be there. Koka Booth is a cool place, but i haven't been since high school so I don't know what their policies are on tailgating

just remember.

today is 8/8/08, and the cops (.08 is the legal limit) are doing more checkpoints because of this, apparently.

Normally, I'd have a couple in the lot, a few at the show, totalling ~a six pack over 5+ hours. Tonight I'm just gonna make sure there's a driver. Don't wanna fuck around.

That said...

Excited about this show. Haven't seen Wilco since those Chapel Hill shows in 06 (they cancelled on my Charleston trip for SNL ), but the setlists have looked pretty good. Hopefully they'll stay off the sky blue sky material, and play I've Got You (At The End of the Century).

Pretty rad show, but apparently every single person that attends a Wilco show is a fucking douchebag. The lawn was full of completely disrespectful people without any show etiquette whatsoever.

I could have bad things to say (the meh crowd, sky blue sky songs are bad, the new one they played wasn't any better) ...

But, what a fun show! Better than they were in CH two years ago, and as good as when I saw em in 05. Glenn Kotche ... also the shit.

I wish I hadn't stopped caring about Wilco a year ago. I bet this concert would have been the bomb dot com.

3. A Shot In The Arm
4. Radio Cure
5. Impossible Germany
6. Remember The Mountain Bed
7. Handshake Drugs
8. One Wing
9. Jesus, Etc.
10. Misunderstood
11. Pot Kettle Black
12. Poor Places
13. Reservations
14. Spiders (Kidsmoke)

Encore 1 (all w/The Total Pros horns) :
15. Hate It Here
16. Walken
17. I'm The Man Who Loves You
18. Monday
19. Outtasite (Outta Mind)

Encore 2:
20. The Late Greats
21. Heavy Metal Drummer
22. Red-Eyed And Blue
23. I Got You (At The End Of The Century)
24. Hoodoo Voodoo

I totally agree about the douchebaggery in the lawn- it was horrible. Why do people talk loudly through an entire show! I like Bon Ivor on recordings, but I have to say that it didn't translate well live. It wasn't his (their) fault, it just wasn't the right atmosphere in my opinion. Like I said, I was on the lawn, way in back and probably just couldn't see/hear past all the idiots. I'm never getting lawn tickets again.

^

Another thing worth mentioning, though, is that Koka Booth is not a particuarly loud venue.

I was 10 rows back, dead center, and felt like it wasn't TOO LOUD like most concerts ... it was just ... loud enough to be concert-loud. Yeah, you could hear everyone chatting it up.

After Avett Brothers I thought it was just the acoustic-ness of the show, but Wilco confirmed that they need to TURN IT UP in Cary.
