I feel like Sportscenter/ESPN has been mailing it in for the last couple of years or so... the problem is that there really isn't an alternative. Maybe I'm just flat out wrong. I don't mind Sportscenter I just get really annoyed by simple things, like why do you immediately jump to the 7th inning with the score 7-6? Who are you to tell me what is important? They seem to have no problem with brushing things aside (yeah, I know they are limited by time, but they also seem to find time for fluff stories too...)

the really frustrating thing is they're so worried about attracting the casual sports fan who tunes in from time to time that they've completely alienated the hardcore sports fan, because they know they will tune in anyway. You can see this in the general presentation of the show in everything from the opening theme (remember da-na-na, da-na-na?) to the star wars-like set and unnecessary graphics and SFX. This is probably true in just about any news show in the last 15 years. Watch a tape of the WRAL news from 1993 and you will likely see similar differences.

Sportscenter has been bad for a while now. I only watch the ESPNEWS channel now for highlights so I don't have to deal with Stuart Scott and his tired ass act. It's a shame too cus when Sportscenter was good back in the day when Olbermann and Patrick were still doing it I'd watch the show like 4 times through.

I actually watch ESPNews now more than Sportscenter. The highlights on SC suck and are too short. Also there are too many commercial breaks with SC and too many "feature" stories that are meaningless/played out (i.e. Farve coverage, interviews with Chad Johnson, etc.).

TWC Fayetteville needs to get their act together.. ESPNEWS has a 30 minute segment on ESPN2 early in the mornings every weekend or something like that, I recorded it one time and it looked really good.. i liked the layout

Tony Kornheiser (Sp?) took another cheap shot at Mario last night during the Aints-Vikings game after Bush's first punt return TD. Said something about how Bush changes the game and how lucky the Aints were that he fell to them.

That fucker also had two fumbles, granted one was a blown call, and a third that was recovered by the Aints. He is exciting, but he does not win games by himself like TK contended.
