Down at Topsail all week (leave on Saturday) for family vacation. We do plenty of drinking during the day/evening but a few of us (older cousins/uncles/dads) have been wondering about any possible bars to go to for the later hours to watch some baseball or whatever.

The weather was absolutely shitty today and we wished there was a bar that had the MLB ticket but weren't aware of one. This is a quiet beach, I know... but didn't know if any of the local restuarants down here had any kind of nightlife/sports atmosphere.

THANKS Wolf WEB

There is a bar about 2 to 3 miles north of the swing bridge that should have some games on. It used to be called Sqeakys but has recently changed its name. There is an arcade on the bottom, bar on top.

and they serve ice cold beer too. but best breakfast in the US of A

-------------------------------------------

as far as bars....go to the Brass Pelican or Gilligans

I second brass pelican and gilligans but they prob wont have MLB ticket. The closest thing to a sports bar that would be showing baseball would be Rick's. It is across the high bridge on the north end of the island just before you get to Sneads Ferry. I've watched a few sporting events there in the past but you may want to call ahead if you have a specific game in mind.

I love Topsail!! Lots of memories from there.

And yes, breakfast there is unbelievable. Something about bacon and eggs on toast combined with the smell of the ocean is great.

El Borracho apparently hated topsail because it wasn't crowded enough. It must suck horribly to have somewhere all to yourself.

Home Port in South Topsail has the closest thing to a decent bar that I've ever seen down there. It's across from the Beach Shop restaurant... Jeff, the owner/proprietor knows what he's doing and his wife (an amazing pastry chef) makes killer desserts.

Homeport has good pizza too. That bar has been 5 or 6 things in the last 10 years, its funny that its named home port again.

Just got home... damn nice trip. The family is a lot of fun so family vacation ain't too bad. Aunt/Uncle from Charleston are both in the Bar Business so they're a blast and my dad/uncle are both a lot of fun to drink with. Even caught grandma makin her a glass of Evan Williams.

We only ate out once and that was today leaving the island when we stopped at Sears Landing. Pretty good lunch food right on the water.

Thanks for the information anyways.

haha, wish I had seen this earlier, as I live on TI. You guys didn't happen to do a boat cruise did you?

FYI...sandbar is okay, but it is filled with drunk ass marines on the weekend. My local bar is called Homeport down on the south end, but if you aren't just into the sit down and drink a beer scene rather than the loud, DJ scene. They have good live music on saturdays and friday night is Kareoke.

For next year...let me know I'll come have a drink and show you around, lol.

Yesssssssssss!

Also, what's the name of that restaurant just beside the bridge on the mainland side? I always forget its name but they have the best softshell crab sandwiches there.
