Both my parents have smoked (indoors) my whole life, even though I had asthma until I outgrew it when I was about 15. Mom quit for a couple years and went right back. This summer I lived with my Dad who smokes like a freight train.

Moved into my apartment last night and the first thing I did was wash everything. Every single article of clothing, blankets, etc. that I had been keeping at my Dad's got washed. It's amazing how you don't notice how much shit reeks of smoke until you get out of it.

Anyone else have these problems? My biggest fear is respiratory issues when I'm older.

My dad used to smoke, but not very much, 2-3 cigs a day, and never in the house.

I've never smoked.

I had a couple of roommates that smoked in the house I was in my sophomore year. It was always bad to come back after a weekend away and realize how bad everything in the house smelled.

both my parents smoked my whole life until I went to college. I never even tried it, nor did my middle older sister. my oldest sister smoked. Both my parents and my oldest sister have since quit.

but yeah, it used to suck going to school every day smelling like smoke. that is the same reason I always have to throw my clothes in the washing machine and take a shower when I get home from the bar

my dad had smoked since he was 12 before i was born

quitting when i was born was extremely hard for him - he started smoking again when me and my sister left for college and my mom found out - there was hell to pay and he had to quit again

i never started smoking - i actually sometimes like the smell when people are smoking but after it lingers on clothes, in houses, or in girls hair i find it revolting

my grandma told me that if she found out she was going to die tomorrow the first thing she would do is smoke a cigarette - i don't wanna be controlled by something like that

^^^^ It still smells awful even with febreze. You are a smoker, they don't notice that they, and their stuff, smell like ass until they quit. I should know. I quit in Oct.

nah, smokers don't notice the smell like non-smokers do. it's kind of like a dog owner kind of gets used to the dog smell, but as soon as someone that doesn't own a dog walks into your house they notice it.

i'm in the same boat - mom smoked in the van with us as kids...with the windows up.

once i was old enough to figure out where all of my headaches were coming from, i complained about that constantly. they've never smoked in the house (i actually didn't even know my dad smoked until a few years ago) but mom always did outside on the porch.

i'm actually thankful b/c it made me have such an adverse reaction to smoking that i don't think i could EVER pick up the habit, even if i tried.

i do hate smelling like smoke when i go to bars - i have to wash everything to get the smell out...and kissing a smoker is yucky.

everyone knows that smoking dulls your sense of smell and taste...that's one of the reasons you usually gain weight when you stop. your appetite returns when you're able to smell and taste those good foods again.
i know my appetite is affected by someone even smoking near me - makes me nauseas.

when my parents quit i would still come home and smoke inside...that lasted like a week

anywhere i go now, i always go outside to smoke anyways....i would always smoke in my living room at one of my apts, and kept my bedroom door shut and closet door shut...if i wore something i hadnt worn in like 6 months the smell made even me gag

[Edited on August 14, 2008 at 11:35 AM. Reason : ^...yeah i cant taste or smell now...gg dumbass]

they're saying that you can't taste or smell as well. it's something that diminishes without you noticing it.

if you don't believe them, stop smoking for about 2 weeks. you'll start to realize that all of your shit stinks. that even a shirt that you smoked in makes other clothes stink

if you have insurance, you should try those new pills...i've seen co-workers that have been smoking for 35 years stop in a 2 week time frame. also,
