Fractured Spine. This is one of the worst possible things that could've happend to us for this year.

http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/779853.html

Quote :
"NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced tonight that junior wide receiver Donald Bowens will miss the 2008 season with a back injury.
“Bowens is out – he's done," O'Brien said. "He's got a fractured spine... well not a fractured spine I said that wrong. He has a hairline fracture. So he's out for the year.” "

It's like Deja Vu all over again. Last year it was Anthony Hill this year its Donald Bowens.

Well looks like the predictions will be right last place in the Atlantic Division

He's the only proven WR on our team. This hurts. A lot.

Jay Smith better be ready to step up.

Anybody know the healing time for something like this?

Also, was Bowens redshirted his freshman year?

you think andre brown will get any space to run, or anthony hill will be able to get open without any good receivers as other options??

I was stoked about Bowens this year. I was hoping this would be a breakout year for him. I wish him all the best and a full, speedy recovery. If he can recover completely, then there could be a silver lining, perhaps that'll give him another year with an even more experienced Mike Glennon at QB. Damn you NCSU injury curse.

WHAAAAAATTTT THHEEEEEEEE FUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKK?????!!!!!!!!

Why the hell does this kind of shit keep happening to our players? They certainly don't deserve this, especially with all the hard work they've been putting in since the end of last season.

I still think Geron James is better than Bowens, i'm sure he's a better blocker at least.

some of the shit said about one of our own family, before and after we ran him out of town
some of the shit said about our former basketball coach's family
some of the shit said about our players' personal lives

i mean i love this school and all, but karma is a bitch, and sometimes I like to see our fanbase get their little black hearts broken. the sense of entitlement is a constant source of bullshit. it's foxnews + michael moore - the humor of it all. it's sad.

so thats what we did to deserve this. karma is a motherfucker.

get well soon bowen.

^^ well why has Ohio State continued to flourish even though they have fans that send death threats to their players for something as simple as dropping a pass in a big game?'

Then there is UNC who has fans talk bad about Roy after he loses a game even though he's one of the best coaches in the game.

I hope this wasn't in reference to Chuck Amato...because that's just fucking retarded.

And even though I think we have some really dumb fans...that whole argument in general is fucking stupid because very fan base does the exact same shit we do.

i think last year state was hit especially hard by the injury bug...the number of season ending injuries to starters was really high

it just seemed to be exponentially higher than the number of injuries you expect to incurr

It's seemed worse the last couple of years because we don't have the depth at most positions to compensate for a loss of any starters.

Still sucks though.

man that really sucks; here's to a speedy and full recovery for bowens; a fractured spine does not sound fun

hopefully some of our receivers behind him are ready to step into larger roles; time will tell

only 12 days to go until gameday!

We just seem to have lost some of our best players, not only starters the last few years. Last year it was Hill, Baker, Pressley. This year its Bowens, and possibly Andre.

yeah I agree, sometimes I shake my head at wolfpack fans that kind of go over the top with the injury bitching, but the last few years have been pretty cruel to us in basketball and football.

the only difference between us and successful teams when in regards to injuries is that they have quality players that are ready and willing to step in and step up. See Wake 2 years ago when they won the conference.

RB would be the exception for us, with Eugene doing great last year with the opportunity.

With Geron James, Jay Smith, Owen Spencer, Darrell Davis, and Jarvis Williams, we've got some depth at receiver. Here's to hoping that depth is quality.
