It's called American English, homie.

Regularly using aluminium or catalogue or any other British English makes you more pretentious than vinylbandit.

aluminium is the standard international name, and it corresponds to the spelling of other elements like vanadium; likewise with catalogue--no one spells monologue as "monolog"

BUT THIS IS AMURICA

It's sad how many don't see the big picture of the world. Just what's inside our borders.

It has nothing to do with a narrow world view; you're just going out of your way to be a twat.

monologue:

Quote :
"Middle French, French monologue speech in a play delivered by a single actor (early 16th cent.; 1811 in sense ‘long speech delivered by one person who forgets or neglects the presence of others’) < mono- MONO- comb. form + -logue -LOGUE comb. form."

-logue:

Quote :
"the form assumed by the Gr. [-logos] in adapted words (most of them through Fr.), as analogue, catalogue, dialogue. The words with this ending which are designations of persons (in most instances repr. actual or assumed Gr. compounds of - ‘speaker, discourser’, and related to parallel formations in -logy) are now little used, derivatives in -loger, -logist, or -logian being commonly preferred. Examples are Assyriologue, astrologue, ideologue, philologue, Sinologue, theologue."
