You might have heard of this before. Apparently a device that uses electrolysis to turn water into oxy-hydrogen. Then it puts that into your intake and is supposed to make your gas burn better. If it were legit, I'm pretty sure these guys would already have their patent.
Also, supposedly you can make your own for $rhode island. 8/18/2008 8:46:15 PM |

there are tons like this.
im sure someone has already gone to the patent officer. if they dont like it, they'll reject it. nothing to do with being legit or not 8/18/2008 9:08:03 PM |

Im not big on like car shit.
But i presume you would need to tell the cars computer aobu tthis extra shit that your injecting into the engine.
And a tank to carry it
Which would be compressed hydrogen and oxygen
Which might be a little dangerous. 8/18/2008 9:17:20 PM |

you dont compress anything.
it seperates the H and O from the water and injects it. 8/18/2008 9:47:07 PM |

Think about breaking water into hydrogen and oxygen the same as charging your battery. It takes more power to do it then you gain buy using the resulting power.
Hybrids get away with this by using things like regenerative braking and fancy tricks to run the engine at optimum efficency in order to charge the battery. This thing is just going to suck power from your cars eletrical system, probably burning out your alternator, and if not that, it will simply hurt your gas milage more than it helps.
Adding the extra hydrogen+ oxygen will do nothing to make your fule burn better, since it will combust with itself resulting in water
electrolysis of water is about 30% efficent i think for basic systems, i think high heat systems are slightly better (assumign you used yoru exhaust heat to aid in this)
In any case, your still going to get at ma 50% of the energy you put into it out of it.
Its snake oil folks, plain and simple. Sure you can run a car on hydroge+oxygen, just like you can run you car on a steam engine. Its just less efficent that the engine your using to create the hydrogen+ oxygen to begin with.

with GM and Ford loosing billions of dollars every month dont you think if they could increase mpg by 20%-60% with a few dollars in parts they would do it 8/18/2008 10:32:06 PM |

^^no. it's all a game. they're not "losing" as bad as you think. they have the ability to increase mileage a lot, but then they lose crucial support from the oil industry. make their mileage too bad, and the government is on them. they just stick to that fine line, and mooch off both sides while selling cars too.
that said, this thread is a bunch of
