I went running over the weekend, and apparently stepped on my foot wrong (I don't recall doing it) but now the top of my left foot is really sore and tender, and it hurts to bend and flex. I'm having a tough time walking as a result.
I've had a real bad sprained ankle before and I know what that feels like. My current pain isn't around my ankle, but concentrated right around the bone that's at the top of your foot as it comes down from your leg.
I'm still going to physical therapy for my arm surgery, so I'm going to ask my therapist at my next appointment this afternoon, but figured I'd ask on here too. Any ideas?
I just pray that I don't end up on crutches. Watching a one-armed guy use crutches is about as funny as watching a blind kid play dodgeball. 8/19/2008 9:37:51 AM |

You could have torn a ligament, but I'm pretty sure you would have known that at the time it happened. 8/19/2008 9:44:46 AM |

I had a stress fracture on the top of my foot about 4 years ago, and I aggravated the same area last month. It still hurts to bend and flex and all that fun stuff.
Have you had an injury in that same spot before? 8/19/2008 10:24:24 AM |

in my experience, foot injuries take a long time to heal. don't be surprised if it is still tender after a week or 2. just as long as theres no sharp pain and its slowly progressing you will be fine. 8/19/2008 10:31:58 AM |

i did fracture my foot when i fell playing basketball back in 2002, but it was a small fracture and i was fine after 4 or 5 weeks of wearing a boot. 8/19/2008 11:41:00 AM |

hopefully they won't have to take your foot too.
^^They take forever to heal.

whoever said around 2 weeks to heal is being really optimistic. I've hurt my foot numerous times and what you're experiencing is going to take a while. be patient, ice it, wrap it with an ace bandage, and obviously don't run until you're completely healed. I made the mistake of thinking I would be okay because the pain had pretty much subsided but ended up hurting my foot even more. 8/19/2008 8:40:23 PM |

my therapist said its just a slight inflammation of some tendons/ligaments/whatever that surrounds the bones where my leg connects to my foot. she massaged it for a few minutes, wrapped it up pretty tight with an ace bandage, and told me to take 800mg of ibuprofen three times a day.
i thought that was a lot of advil, but i called my mom and she said for a few days it would be okay if it would help with the pain and the inflammation.

eheh yea that does sound kinda funny
she's a doctor which is why i called her. she said the 800mg is the dosage required for the medicine to work as an anti-inflammatory in addition to a pain killer 8/20/2008 6:07:52 PM |

Yea so how about my big ass dog tramples over my tender foot and twists it as she's making a mad dash to the window last night.
It's soooooo sore About where the pinky toe joint is in the foot (not the visible joint). It's just an annoying soreness too! 8/21/2008 9:21:24 AM |

Maybe the little bastage jammed your toe when she did it.
Immobilize it by taping it to the toe next to it or by using a bandage on it to do the same thing and ice it for a little while. I've done that before when I have severely buggered up my toes by, say, slamming them full force into the bunk bed when I was young and being foolish. 8/21/2008 11:51:13 AM |

haha my toes don't hurt...It's like inside my foot where the joints are. You know how your toe bones go further into your foot?
and it's so strange because the pain only goes halfway across my foot this time 8/21/2008 2:19:25 PM |

Its a broken heel. You are fucked.
Maybe that wasn't such a good response. But for your foot, see a specialist...not just a general ortho but a foot specialist. I broke my heel in Jan and I still have pain because the break created a gap in the tissues that one close. I'm out of options except surgery for now and I'm not going to do that.
