The old thread was dead. What are you opinions on Gamefly? I am thinking about joining because I am more interested in playing games for the single player experience more so than the multiplayer and it seems like a huge waste of money to buy a game, beat it in 2 days, and then try and resell it.
Are there any other alternatives that anyone uses? 8/19/2008 5:27:33 PM |

gamefly is fine, but can be hit or miss. for a while I would ALWAYS get my first pick and would get games on the release date (Halo 3, Dead Rising, Saints Row, etc). Other times I'd get a ton of shit.
If you have a lot of games you want to play it isn't bad at all and I was relatively pleased. Keep it for 3-4 months, play out everything, then quit for a few months until you have a big queue again. Thats the cheapest and best way to roll.
Note: the occurance of me getting my first choice had NOTHING to do with how long id been a member. month 1 i got absolute shit, same with month 2, then month 3 i got excellent choices. no real pattern so dont let whiners and their confirmation bias fool you. 8/19/2008 5:34:25 PM |

I have gamefly. I chose it because I have a ps3 and a lot of the games seem hit or miss. Also, it's nice to justify getting a game with absolutely no replay value. I split it with my roommate as he has a wii and there are games we occasionally want for each others' systems but won't pay for. I get my game within 3-4 days of returning the old one. I quit wow, which was my game for months and months and gamefly costs the same as my wow subscription, so it worked out well. 8/19/2008 8:25:29 PM |

I gave it a try for a while, but there just aren't enough games I want to play out there. It was fine for a few months then I stopped really caring about what else was on my list.
Now I use GameTap. Great way to play some retro and even some recent games. It's also a bargain considering you can create 7 sub-accounts who can all be on at the same time at different locations. Basically, you can split a $60 one-year subscription between 8 people. 8/22/2008 11:23:57 AM |

yeah but im trying to get the most out of my XBOX360. $60 a game gets old when you beat it 2 days later and then can only trade it back in for $25 (fucking Gamestop)-- unless you return it within 7 days. 8/22/2008 11:40:19 AM |
