and soccer is the game of the upper middle class? Because to play football you need all this expensive equipment and for soccer you just need a ball. This only applies to the US of course. 8/24/2008 9:43:22 AM |

football is blue collar at its base
I'd argue that nascar has moved into the "game of the common man" spot as of late tho... 8/24/2008 9:45:33 AM |

They're all games, which makes all of them "games of the common man."
Sports suck when you aren't actually participating in them. I can't sit there and watch other people do shit. 8/24/2008 9:54:26 AM |

Football is a game for the common man because you get home on Friday and go off to the local high school game. Then you watch college football on Saturday, and the NFL on Sunday. After that you wake up early in the morning and go to work until 5:00 PM for the next 5 days. Other sports like basketball and baseball require you to stay up until midnight on Tuesday to see the end of the game. 8/24/2008 11:22:50 AM |

^^ baseball you don't just have to stay up late on weekdays, you have to not work on weekdays.
although that's actually b/c baseball was originally catered to 3rd shift workers, so not really the intention there. 8/24/2008 12:06:53 PM |
