You're paying for a service that you aren't receiving..

unfortunately, outside of the first 30 days you can't get out of your contract without paying an early termination fee, even if it is because the service has degraded or even gone away completely. The only way they will let you out of the contract is if you move somewhere that is not in the Clearwire service area. This is the reason i decided against Clearwire a couple months ago. A guy I worked with had it for 6 months and it worked fine, then just out of the blue he couldn't get a signal for shit in his house. He tried to cancel and couldn't get out without paying the termination fee. (I want to say it was like $180).

also, I am pretty sure their contracts auto-renew, so you best make sure you cancel when the contract is up or you will be stuck for another year.

It's clearwire... cancel, pay the $150+ dollars, get something wired.

Not worth the headache...

also, if you didn't purchase the modem up front, they will most likely stick you with the price of the modem as well.

I might have the whole modem thing confused with Vonage though. I know when I tried to quit Vonage they told me I'd have to pay the $75 for the modem and a cancellation fee if I quit before my year was up. Instead I had them drop me down to their lowest plan, which is like $4.95 a month and I can cancel in October without having to pay for the modem or a cancellation fee.

On a side note, anyone want to buy a Vonage modem?

Oh man I'm glad I didn't go with Clearwire!

I'm trying to figure out who to use though....I hate Time Warner and don't want to use them on principle but I may have to.

I don't mean to hijack, but GIVE ME OPTIONS TDUB

as much as i hate Time Warner, I am probably going back to them. I have had DSL for about 6 months now and it has been nothing but problems. It literally goes down every time it rains.

hijack all you want.

clearwire does not work for VOIP, and streaming videos is not so good either.

they ended up giving me the premium plan for a week free to see if it helps, and i agreed to let them try to fix it before i went any further.

i will be calling them again in a week for sure

and switching back to the dreaded time warner

We gave ClearWire a chance because we fucking hate TWC, but my husband couldn't play WoW with ClearWire.

I enjoy Cingular's wireless deal, but I wouldn't recommend it beyond surfing the web.

i don't understand you people. If you know anything about this shit you would know that TWC >>>>>>>> every service offered in raleigh hands down no contest. If you are finicky about rates and one of those people that try to 'cancel' every 6 months to get the new low rate then thats your problem. But the fact of the matter is no one in the area will provide a better internet connection then TWC.

The only upgrade from TWC is FIOS and that is not even an option in Raleigh so don't waste your time jumping from carrier to carrier. Not to mention not having a contract can't be beat either.
