Anyone picking this up? I've played it a little, but unfortunately have nothing to compare it to.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/150031/tiger_woods_pga_tour_09_review.html

this game really didn't deserve it's own thread, should have just posted it in the xbox game thread.

It's probably about the same as the rest.. I have 04 and 07 I think, maybe another one I dunno, not really worth getting unless you space it out a couple years

The last one I played was 2007 or 2008, and you had to pick where you were hitting on the ball as you took your backswing... i hated that. This one doesn't have that so I may pick it up.

I played part of the demo on XBox 360 yesterday...seemed ok...I like swinging with the right stick and the demo controls use the left stick, so that sucked, but thats certainly something you'll be able to change in the full game

one thing I thought was pretty cool was how you advanced your skills...in the 3 demo holes I played, my drives were pretty weak, but my short game and putting were decent...after the 3 holes, my putting and short game stats went up the most...if thats how advancing skills are in the real game, I think I like it more than playing through all the challenges and then applying points wherever you want

still though i'll probably rent before I buy

yeah, definitely an advantage to not having any ethics re: piracy.

From what I heard there will be no PC version this year, so no '09 for me. No Madden either.

It's just as well I suppose. EA hasn't updated either Tiger Woods or Madden for several iterations now. They've just updated the menu interface a bit and called it a new game. I guess I'd rather just stick with the older versions and their mods than to waste money on the same game as last year except with a new skin. At least this way the mod community has another year to make what's already there even better.

I'll probably pick this game up soon. I have 2007 for the PS2, but now that I have the PS3 I think buying 2009 is acceptable.

I dunno if I will get this or Mercenaries 2 first though......

I downloaded it to try it out. I literally spent more time doing the in game photo face thing (which ended up looking NOTHING like me, btw) than I did playing the game before I got bored and turned it off. I used to love the Tiger Woods series. But the last few years they haven't even been worth playing, IMO.

Pretty much how I feel about this one and about all of the EA Sports games.

I haven't been much for golf games except for old hot shots and the wii golf. I'm kind of digging this game after playing it a couple hours last night.

Nacho, I accidentally left the ethernet plugged in and even ran the suggested update before realize the fucking game isn't even officially out yet. I pretty much ripped it out of the back once things clicked, but you think I'll be ok? You went ahead and created an EA account with it for the photo upload or what?

Yeah, I did the whole online photo thing.

I just really don't give a shit about stuff like that anymore. If they want to come take my xbox, let em.

Tiger 09 for Wii is the fucking balls! awesome game. the 1:1 swing has finally made this game more fun than Wii Sports golf.

If anyone ever wants to play online, look for me at "BTRadio"

For those of you playing on Wii.. do you swing the controller with one arm, or use two as if you're swinging a golf club?

The game feels much more natural when I swing with one hand/arm, although having played golf for years my instinct is to use two hands.

Just curious what other people do.. so far it seems to be much more fun with one hand, so that's probably how I'll keep playing.

picked it up tonight.

haven't played an online game yet

but at any time while playing a course you are presented with EA moments where you can submit and also beat other players' submitted shots.

Not sure if this was a feature last year but i love it

^^ I play with one hand/arm. The swing works way better for me and it allows me much more control over draw/fade shots.

has anyone here had a problem with this game ramping up your disc to crazy speeds and scratching itself so badly that you had to return it? i am on my third disc, and soon as i put this new one in, it ramped up my disc drive really fast, stalled on loading screens, and freeze (thought not completely) in the menu screen. none of my other games does this, i tested them all out, and i have never had a read disc error since i have owned a console period with a newly bought game. at one point a white box came up with said something to the effect of 'you must play this disc in a 360 console' and had some japanese writing and some other writing. how weird. its like it might have some code from another version of the game for another console in it or something. i have an elite system that less than a year old, and i'd wager that its not the console, due to my testing other games. i would just like to take this game and put it in another 360 and see what happens.
