i'm pretty into chivalry. i open doors for ladies, etc. even car doors when i'm on a date. so the other night i'm out with a chick. a diva chick from NYC/NJ area. high heels, perfume, expensive bag, etc . . . the whole bit.

so i'm getting out to go to the Delano Hotel last night and i didn't bother to open her door. she stands there and says, "Isn't this great . . . or something to that effect. she even like waited a bit I noticed" it was if she expected it or something.

.

is it possible to still be a gentlemen these days? i've never had a chick do some sh!t like that. ended up not even speaking the entire night.

immediately after that I deleted her number.

i didn't prove your point...

just because he's courteous to women doesn't mean he's chivalrous

he didn't say anything about being brave or honorable

[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 6:29 PM. Reason : i will argue this one forever...it's one of my pet peeves]

i'm just sayin'

chivalry covers courtesy towards women, among other things

and is a generally accepted term for what we're all talking about

[link]http://media.http://www.loyolagreyhound.com/media/storage/paper665/news/2003/04/29/Opinion/Chivalrys.Not.Dead.It.Just.Doesnt.Matter.Anymore-727285.shtml[/link]

also, so fuck it and whatnot

i just view this as a rectangle/square type of thing...

chivalry encompasses gallantry....but gallantry does not mean chivalrous...

and you're right...it doesn't matter...but it's just one of those things that gets under my skin...

[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 6:34 PM. Reason : we all have them....sorta like chiggers]

no one cares about your pet peeves

in common american culture (and possibly overseas too) people refer to the opening of doors, acting on behalf of a lady, etc as chivalry. Its not only the act of courteous attention to a lady (gallantry), but also that of honor and bravery. While it is gallant to open doors for her, it is chivalrous to act to protect her. Hence, the knight in shining armor.

tl;dr Chivalry includes gallantry.

whatever, B. i'm taking this chick out to the Florida Room last night and just being a nice guy and all. she stepped out and said, "ISN'T THIS THE ROYAL TREATMENT . . . " i was floored. the night just didn't go well after that.

ended up not speaking and just dropping her off at the airport the next day and saying, "Call me". gave a hug and just left. i deleted her number shortly after.

you do have to be disrespectful to chicks to get a relationship where its all about banging the box. i noticed chicks that i don't really like much tend to offer me box no matter if i return calls, stand them up on dates, etc. i don't dog them intentionally i just make it clear i'm not that interested and the pussy party just continues.

i refuse to take advantage of that though.
