'02 ford mustang, automatic transmission

I cut my car on today and the battery and service engine soon lights came on, and it wouldn't engage in any of the gears (wouldn't even stay in park had to use the brake). I turn it off, let it sit for a minute, and crank it up and everything was fine.

any opinions?

sounds like either a bad battery or corroded connection
