premiered last night. did anyone watch it?


it wasn't bad. I was expecting to turn it off halfway through but it was pretty good. Seeing Katey Sagal (peg from married w/ children, leela from futurama) in her role was a little shocking. I think it has some promise and should pick up the gritty, violent slack when the Shield ends this year.

I'm curious what kind of overlaps with the shield will be in this show. They're already making references to gangs from the shield.

I think they referred to him as the "city cop" on the show and that's how I picked the term. I didn't really put much thought into the city-vs-town deal, but you're right.

So I think I fucked up and recently binge watched (well, it probably took about 6 months) Boardwalk Empire and The Wire...because I'm about 6 episodes in to SOA, and I think it's pretty weak.

I mean...I wasn't expecting Breaking Bad or anything...but the acting isn't great, the action/shooting scenes are completely unrealistic, as are a lot of the episode plots. I've seen people freak out over this show and I'm just not getting it.

With that being said, I am hooked and will continue watching, I've just been pretty underwhelmed so far.

The first 3 seasons I'd say are pretty great (S2 is the high point), but it goes downhill pretty quickly after that and still runs for another 4 seasons.

It isn't a great show. It has some good episodes, and decent arcs but overall its a pretty shit show. Having said that, I still watched every episode till the end.

I would say I watched the last two seasons only so I wasn't leaving it unfinished. I can't remember anything very redeeming about them at all.

Overall the writers' continued desperation to fantasize the biker life and make it seem cool becomes pretty annoying and seriously gets in the way of any worthwhile commentary

Yeah in the beginning he tended to find interesting ways to solve his problems because he was trying to get the club away from violence. At some point it just becomes "kill everything". I saw it through to the end because I had enjoyed enough of it, but I would hardly put the entire series anywhere close to my top 10.

I loved the series. I thought it was excellent. There are a couple seasons in the middle that are a little weaker (particularly the one where they go to ireland), but the rest is awesome~

The best part about the first few seasons was that even though it was a dark, violent show it was still fun to watch. S4-S7 got to the point where every season just got more and more depressing to watch (over the top torture, characters dying just for the sake of violence, etc.).
