How much do you tip some who comes out to your house and replaces your car's cracked windshield?

Nothing, they are getting paid to do it.

well i gave him $5. felt like a service i was receiving having a windshield come to me & the person spending half an hour on it. i was annoyed that it took two tries (rained last time they scheduled the appointment to come out) only because they had such strict windows on when they can come & i had to rearrange my work schedule each time.

i have only had them replace my windshield once, and I never even saw them. just walked out in the parking lot after work and had a new windshield.

while i don't mind giving a (good) tip for (good) service from a bartender, waitress, etc., this country is waaay too obsessed with tipping. i do not feel the need to tip someone for making me a sandwich at quizno's, making me a $5 cup of ice cream at cold stone, or installing a $100 windshield in my car. although, at my last job i had a styrofoam cup on my desk and wrote in sharpie "tip jar" and my coworkers would put change in it daily. it started out to be a joke, but there was finally enough that i bought pizza for everyone with the money.

in this case it was a $200 windshield, and there were like 5 to 10 mins of talking, going over what he was going to do, the paying process and what not. i don't get a 5 to 10 min break at work ever, haven't for years.
