My thoughts are the Celtics are going to be very good but........

The Lakers with a healthy Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Kobe, Fish could be one the best teams of the last decade (68-14)

^^tell me who will beat this team??

Celtics are a year older plus the fact that it is hard as hell to repeat.

Lakers were 2 games away without their starting center

how are Garnett, Pierce and Allen going to come out with the same fire and determination that they did last year? They have the hardware now, their bellies are full, I don't see them repeating. I don't see them getting past Cleveland.

I'm so tired of hearing about we need to watch out for the blazers....this isn't an attack on you or your psot because every NBA writer wont shut up about the blazers too. Obviously they are going to be good. If you get lucky come draft time or draft well you will eventually get good and they certainly have a lot of young talent. But I've been reading columns that place them in the upper tier of the Western conference and that's just a little generous for a team that has done nothing. They went on a little streak but where were they come playoff time.! rant over

on that note, I think the blazers finish in the top 5 records in the West.

what kind of record do you think they would have?

and who would be the head coach?

I am going with 3-79 and the ghost of Jim Valvano

Wow. Monta Ellis gets suspended 30 games without pay by the Warriors for injuring ankle during a moped accident and then lying about it. Pretty harsh if you ask me. Maybe the monetary fine isn't quite that bad...but the 30 games is pretty big.

he doesn't have a great handle, so no, he never started at point.. he has played well in preseason games (well enough to earn a starting spot when he didn't even get drafted) so we'll see what happens

"Isiah Thomas Taken to Hospital for Overdose, WABC-TV Reports

By Chris Dolmetsch

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Former New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas was taken to White Plains Hospital Center today after overdosing on sleeping pills, WABC-TV reported, citing police and unidentified people.

Police were called to Thomas's house in Harrison, New York, just after midnight for a report of a possible overdose of a 46- year-old male, WABC-TV reported, citing police sources. The former NBA basketball player and coach is 47, the network said.

The incident is being treated as an overdose and not a suicide attempt, WABC-TV said, citing police. Officials with the Knicks would tell the network only that Thomas is fine. "

what's up with hickson? does he get any pt with the cavs? he hasn't played tonight. obviously i haven't kept up.

also, van gundy was giving some major props to archie miller. said he was at an ohio st practice and went on to rave about how great a coach thad matta is. then he mentioned archie miller and said how bright he is and how he needs to be a head coach somewhere.

^ that's really cool about Archie.

Not sure about Hickson, haven't kept up too much myself. I'd imagine he's like any other rookie, being brought along as he develops. His defense probably sucks right now. One of their other rookies got injured recently.

Hickson was #1 on plays of the day earlier this week for a put back two handed dunk over somebody. It was NICE.

NBA Rookie of the Year? Who ya got?

I'm gonna go with Beasley, but Oden has a good shot considering he will be the focal point of that team as a rookie. Rose is another guy who could become redunkulous by the end of the year and win this thing. you see his 30 points the other night? man.

Mayo is too up and down. Watch out for Rudy Fernandez though, he will probably be like 3rd in the ROY voting.

^He will be the focal point of the Blazers because he is their best post player, has a lot of talent, he was the #1 pick...I could go on and on.

Roy is a superstar, but he won't be posting up Duncan or Stoudemire or Howard or Garnett. I have a feeling Oden will. The NBA is still a big man's league, no matter what Chris Paul says.

also, I really like Rose as a player. He's definitely a sleeper to win ROY.

Still don't think Oden is going to be the focal point of that team just yet. Roy and Aldridge get the call before Oden. The guy hasn't played an official game in over a year. I'm thinking he might have a 14 and 9 type of season...which should probably put him behind Rose and maybe Beasley in the ROY standings.
