BTW - I'm in Greenville
So....I've never seen cops in undercover cars like I did last night. They were in like a dodge stratus or something...in regular clothes asking to see folk's ID in my apartment complex.
I didn't know they had like the right to do that...especially when my apartment complex has gates and the gates are down.
I think it's grand to stop underage drinking and drinking/driving...but just find it annoying.
Especially when I'm walking to my boy's car with two 40's duct taped to my hand and they want to see ID. I'm like...seriously. 9/14/2008 10:58:47 AM |

Are they allowed to do that? That seems pretty suspect. For all you know they aren't cops at all 9/14/2008 11:08:28 AM |

I am surprised they do not get shot at more often. They do not exactly look like cops, and run up to your car window wearing street clothes.
(like a person would that was robbing you) 9/14/2008 1:47:38 PM |

Is it illegal to fail to identify yourself in NC (outside of a Terry stop)? 9/14/2008 1:55:05 PM |

I believe it's illegal to give false identification and if you don't ID yourself, they can arrest you 9/14/2008 2:31:25 PM |

all they need is reasonable suspision to investigate if a possible crime has occured and i am guessing if you have two 40's duct taped to your hands in an apt complex in greenville and you look less than 30, they might have r.s. to see if you are drinking under age

You do have to identify yourself if you are in possession of alcohol, or if you are driving. If you are doing something illegal, they can arrest you and compel you to identify yourself.
I have failed to identify myself on a few occasions. They ask for ID and I say I don't have it with me (usually true). They've never given me any trouble about it. 9/14/2008 2:56:17 PM |
