This morning sometime after I left for work at 7am, Grits got out of the house. This is only his 3rd trip to Raleigh in the house we live in now. Lucky1 remembers seeing him before the other roommate left, but not after. NOT BLAMING THE OTHER ROOMMATE AT ALL HERE! Y'all know how special of a cat Grits is to Lucky1 and I. We've tore the house upside down looking in any possible hiding spots. We have 2 cups of tuna and cat food out hoping he'll get hungry.

So, all I ask is that you PLEASE keep your eyes open for him. He's NEVER been outside in a city environment like this, and I just pray he has the homing skills most cats do. He IS wearing a red collar with reflective paw prints (in case something like this ever happened!) with a red heart shaped name tag that says "Grits" and 2 phone numbers on it; only the first number is valid now though. He is current on all shots, vaccines, and is neutered. He is extremely friendly, so if you see him, just call his name sweetly, and he'll come to you.

We are posting signs today all over the local neighborhoods, and I've been door-to-door ever since I got off work.

He is a Maine coon, about 15 lbs. Green eyes, black with tan swirls on his sides, white chest and belly, white goatee.

Again, he's extrelemy playful and friendly. So if you see him, please just grab him and get in touch with us ASAP.

I like Maine Coons. I hope he's OK. My Maine Coon always came back home when he ran away.

He's always came home too, but this was back home. He's lived in the city before, but not in this type of housing development. I think he's unfamiliar with his surroundings-and may be enjoying or terrified of the sights and smells... who knows. He just started staying gone for 2 days at a time while I was in Montana this summer, almost like he was looking for me. I don't doubt he loves me, I just pray he can find me.

^^^ Joanne Drive area.

I live near there and will keep a lookout. I have dogs though so cats usually stay away from my yard.

my kitty escaped a couple months ago in a strange area miles from my house. He just stayed in the general area for most of the day till he felt like coming up to me.

get a handfull of catfood and call him over and over again. be prepared to wait. bring a chair and a book

good luck

We're hanging fliers now and going door to door. He's fixed, he was not 'getting some'.

I am posting this as a bulletin for those of you who care enough to help me out if you are in the area.

And thank you more than ever if you are able to help!

We're still hopeful...

Sorry y'all, I got really busy after I found him that I forgot to update everyone.

HE WAS IN THE FREAKING HOUSE THE ENTIRE TIME!!!! His new favorite place it hide is somewhere in the laundry room, which I moved stuff around and looked behind everything, etc etc. I have no idea how he hid himself so well; but I sure am glad I found him.

Sorta seemed to know what he had done, and was all sweet and apologetic.

Thank you to everyone who said they'd keep their eyes out for him and were concerned about us finding him!

I LOVE Maine coone cats. They are some of the best, most loving and gentle cats to be around.
