I grease my driveline on my trucks every other oil change.
Is there any recommended interval to do this?
Now that I'm looking at getting a used 4Runner, what kind of damage will there be if it isn't done? Seems like most SUV/Truck owners overlook this... 9/26/2008 11:48:07 AM |

Yeah, there are grease fittings on the joints...
Our newer F-350s at work are sealed though, no greasing them. 9/26/2008 1:51:51 PM |

What make/model is it?
Tacomas, Tundras, 4Runners, F-150s are some that I know have them from personal experience. F-350s don't. 9/26/2008 2:18:34 PM |

My old u-joint literally turned to dust and metal shavings when one of the bearing caps seized up, I guess the grease finally washed out or got some debris in there. Just had to take 20 minutes to replace it. It didn't have grease fittings, but the replacement did. 9/26/2008 7:29:36 PM |

on land rovers, the OEM non serviceable joints are usually more expensive than the greasable aftermarket alternative.

You will want to grease the sliding part of the rear driveshaft every oil change or it will thump at stoplights.9/29/2008 1:59:07 AM |
