i get about 18mpg highway and i have about 9 gallons of gas....Will i be able to find any before i run out??? WHO KNOWS!!!
9/26/2008 1:27:10 PM
if you can make it to Burlington, the TA and Flying J still had gas last i heard
9/26/2008 1:28:31 PM
yeah... but will they @ 9pm??
9/26/2008 1:29:05 PM
asheboro has it[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 1:29 PM. Reason : i'll save you 5 gallons haha ]
9/26/2008 1:29:12 PM
this math bottles my mind
9/26/2008 1:29:13 PM
where is sumfoo1 to start with?
9/26/2008 1:29:32 PM
cherlot
9/26/2008 1:29:48 PM
charlotte... i actually should be able to almost make it....Burlington should be easy...
9/26/2008 1:30:46 PM
this guy sure is some fool.
9/26/2008 1:31:15 PM
omg why would you call me that
9/26/2008 1:32:00 PM
162 miles... you should be able to make it to Raleigh on that much gas..although that won't help you much either
9/26/2008 1:32:48 PM
lolley lolley la
9/26/2008 1:32:50 PM
hey sumfoo1, I think we're doing the opposite this wknd. You from Charlotte to Raleigh, myself from Raleigh to Charlotte. There's plenty of gas up here so I think I'm in a better situation than you, and I do better than 18 mpg (yikes!)
9/26/2008 1:35:04 PM
yeah 192... i'm going from the other side of charlotte to clayton actually...
9/26/2008 1:35:31 PM
you'd save 30 miles going up 49..and i'd guess better gas mileage since you're driving a brick through air basically
9/26/2008 1:37:54 PM
pat, you'll be able to find gas. center-city not so much, but its pretty good supply along the outer ring. concord is out at several places suprisingly, which is why i'm glad i have a monsterous tank and nowhere to go really
9/26/2008 1:39:16 PM
hopefully he wont lol jk
9/26/2008 1:40:07 PM
sumfoo1, i'll bet 49/64 would be a better bet
9/26/2008 1:44:11 PM
he don't listen
9/26/2008 1:46:10 PM
^he'd save 30 miles but get worse gas mileage. Taking the interstate over the back way I get about 3-4 mpg better. 26 compared to 30
9/26/2008 1:46:19 PM
9/26/2008 1:47:40 PM
but his odds of finding gas w/ ease are much greater
9/26/2008 1:47:52 PM
hahah i might... i'm betting those back ass roads probably have more gas than the places along 85 do
9/26/2008 1:48:25 PM
^ agreed
9/26/2008 1:48:46 PM
yeah, he'll find gas in asheboro..and i can't imagine him getting that much worse gas mileage going 60-65 vs going 80..esp with what he's drivingbut anyways.
9/26/2008 1:48:58 PM
9/26/2008 1:49:32 PM
either way you'll probably catch the bottle neck up near the speedway/concord area unless you leave later than 6:30. By that time 85/40 and 49/64 are about the same. If you want to stop early i'd suggest the Pilot at exit 63. you should already know all this shit. you and i both did this for 4 years.
9/26/2008 1:50:37 PM
^^^you encounter more stop and go traffic than you think, with all those lights in the small towns. I thought I got better mileage the back way until I tracked it a few times.
9/26/2008 1:50:59 PM
the interstate is faster but if he is worried about gas 49/64 is a much better route imo. His route to clayton on 49/64 vs 85/40 will save him about 30 miles like you said. If he gets 18mpg on the highway, he could still afford to lose 3-4 mpg on 49/64 and use the same amount of gas because of the 30 mile difference in his favor. On top of that, he'll pass 20 something gas stations along the way between asheboro, siler city, and just random ones. Id be SHOCKED if several of them didnt have gas still.
9/26/2008 1:53:46 PM
well actually from asheboro to charlotte its a lot faster.. ppl at work think going all the way out to 85 then to clt is faster and it's not at all.. hell i really don't believe it's faster going to raleigh either but haven't timed it so i don't know[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 1:54 PM. Reason : asfd]
9/26/2008 1:53:47 PM
yeah given no traffic, but back in 2003,2004 when there was construction between durham and raleigh and then construction in salisbury the 40/85 route was almost undriveable. now its as smooth as ever. until the break ground on the 85 expansion in cabarrus county, then shit will hit the fan again
9/26/2008 1:54:09 PM
While you're in Raleigh, you should stop by and check out my show.
9/26/2008 1:54:40 PM
Just steal some. There's this Wrangler off Kaplan Dr. that I've been able to get gas from twice.
9/26/2008 1:55:46 PM
^^last time I made the drive (with no traffic above average either way) the difference was less than 10 minutes. At that point its just preference. Given that driving on the interstate is a lot safer I guess its your better bet.
9/26/2008 1:56:40 PM
depends on where your starting and end points are. my parents house is right off of 49 outside of charlotte and from there it is nearly a tie to take 49/64 all the way to raleigh vs driving 15-20 mins to 85 and then heading to raleigh.[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 1:57 PM. Reason : ]
9/26/2008 1:56:55 PM
very true
9/26/2008 1:57:36 PM
^^^not this time GAS[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 1:58 PM. Reason : ]

better chance of finding a station with gas? i guess, i plan on finding one off I-85[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 2:03 PM. Reason : k]
9/26/2008 1:59:59 PM
if you walk you don't use gas.I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.
9/26/2008 2:00:56 PM
How about the train?
9/26/2008 2:20:31 PM
i'm uptown...
9/26/2008 2:20:36 PM
isn't there a bus to the train station?[Edited on September 26, 2008 at 2:22 PM. Reason : there is, i've riden it. ][Edited on September 26, 2008 at 2:23 PM. Reason : the choo choo to raleigh, not the burbs...]
9/26/2008 2:21:39 PM
There is definitely going to be gas on the destination end of your trip. All the stations at exit 312 have it, and I am sure there is gas on 70 Bus.
9/26/2008 2:24:37 PM
yeah i used to ride the train all the time... and still would but i need to bring my dog this weekend
9/26/2008 2:25:34 PM
the train's great if time isn't a commodity to you.
9/26/2008 2:29:17 PM
the one there isn't much slower...and i can do work and bill while i'm on it...the one home sucks...smells like piss/bo/puke and is crowded
9/26/2008 2:31:12 PM
ahh, that makes sense b/c I've only taken it once and it was from Raleigh to Charlotte.
9/26/2008 2:34:56 PM
made it... followed a tanker truck till he stopped hahahaha
9/28/2008 9:22:30 AM
I'll give you a dollar. Just have it.
