I find it funny that Chrysler/Dodge couldn't even make an EV concept on their own design. It's LITERALLY a Lotus Europa that has been repainted
Lotus:
How bad is it when a multi-billion dollar auto manufacturer can't even put a different body kit on a concept car? And they turn to one of the smallest production auto manufacturers in the world?
I mean, I think it's great personally, but there's a reason Lotus is making the Evora. Maybe 1 in 1,000,000 people could actually use the car as a commuter car, although I will say the Europa is worlds more practical than the Elise, it's still a TINY, two seat, barebones sports car. And Dodge will be competing directly with Tesla, who will have already been on the market for 4 years by 2011.

Hell, if Chrysler can deliver that thing with performance close to the car being produced by Tesla and drop the price they'll have won the day. It's an electric lotus with a dodge badge, but it's a pretty significant step for an automaker that sells some of the least fuel efficient, most shit-ass cars on the road right now.
I"m not going to hate just because they went with what lotus already had available and threw some electric motors on it. A simple solution isn't necessarily a bad one. 9/27/2008 9:46:04 PM |

It's even better... it's a Lotus body with Chrysler's own electric engine. Which is quite significant! They have developed the powertrain... they can make their own body one day. Lotus makes their own bodies and puts in Toyota engines... Chrysler took a Lotus body and put in their own engine.
And the specs are amazing:
268 hp 480 lb-ft 0-60 mph < 5 sec 1/4 mile in ~ 13 sec top speed > 120 mph
And so I don't see how with specs like that it is going to be affordable. And it coms with a Lotus body, which also add a significant cost. Or to keep it relatively affordable, they will significantly tone down the engine.9/28/2008 3:04:28 AM |

I also find it amusing you slam Dodge for "stealing" a body/chassis when all lotus does is buy power trains (And they dont do a good job at selecting them). 9/28/2008 9:27:42 AM |
