But I've never done this before. How is one supposed to go about doing this?

I have kind of an idea of what I want it to be about, but I don't know where to go? Am I supposed to make up the sequence of events before I start writing, or am I just supposed to let pen to paper (fingers to keyboard) and start writing?

P.S. It's gonna be a badass tale either way.
