i was 12 and we watched the verdict in my science class

I was in the high school library with about 100 other kids watching the verdict on TV. As soon as "not guilty" was uttered, about 90% of the blacks in the room and 75% of everyone else started cheering wildly and then ran through the hallways celebrating. But I only remember it because the people standing closest to me were a couple of black kids, and in the midst of everyone else's celebration, one of them just looked at the other, shook his head in disbelief, and very calmly said, "Man, nigga got away with murder." 10/4/2008 3:00:28 PM |
