here are stats from a professional web traffic monitoring companyapproximately 10,000 unique people visit TheWolfWeb each month... of these we are50/50% -- male/female 90% -- white70% -- have no kids70% -- have some college, a college degree, or grad school60% -- make between 30K - 100K per year.so far, makes sense...until you read that50% are age 35-49 and 25% make more than 100K per yearo rly?and these aren't just "passers by" fully 25% of these 10K people are counted as "regulars" or "addicts" (collectively accounting for over 55% of total visits)where are these old people? it can't be just old dudes looking at pr0n... because that would skew the gender stats, which is actually 49% male, 51% female. interestinghttp://www.quantcast.com/thewolfweb.com[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 6:19 PM. how do they gather this (mis)information?
10/6/2008 6:03:03 PM
because the people put 99 as their age.
10/6/2008 6:04:38 PM
^ no, they're not using self reporting profile info... they're using demographic metrics from webtrackers.^^ freely available demographic information, i reckon
10/6/2008 6:04:51 PM
cops. it's the cops and media people that are always trolling TWW, looking for shit
10/6/2008 6:07:29 PM
so what your saying is that of the people who own the computers/internet accounts being used to post here 50% are age 35-49 and 50% are female
10/6/2008 6:08:31 PM
what im going to guess, is that the "passers-by" skew the demographic data somewhat from what would be if it were just measured by "regulars" and "addicts"but still that doesnt account for all of it.and at the least, if it doesnt show the composition of the regular *posters* it really shows who are the regular *visitors* to this site.
10/6/2008 6:08:35 PM
im just shocked that 25% make more than 100k[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 6:09 PM. Reason : HOW DO THEY KNOW]
10/6/2008 6:09:48 PM

10/6/2008 6:13:23 PM
I'm glad to see that you can't add, though.Income (30k to 100k)37 (30-60k)+23 (60-100k)=50?
10/6/2008 6:16:36 PM
50/50 male/female my ass
10/6/2008 6:18:17 PM
yeah. 50/50? what are you smokingI'm walls1441 and i approved this message.[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 6:19 PM. Reason : how exactly does it get this data?]
10/6/2008 6:18:36 PM
^^^ lolz. okay, correcting income to 60%. ^^, ^ it's not reporting on "regular posters"... it's reporting on "all visitors". which breaks down to 25% "addicts" and "regular visitors"75% "passers-by"so i think its fair to say these numbers do not represent the core posters (you guys), but it does speak to who are the visitors -- including even the "regular visitors" although the numbers won't be so extreme.[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 6:22 PM. this smells like bullshit.how does some company know the real people behind the usernames? how can you know about someone's kids, income, degrees, etc, unless you know who the person is, i.e., their full name and address?

10/6/2008 7:11:14 PM
well, most of those people who went to ncsu.edu couldn't get into unc.edu, so i dunno...

it must be all those people at the various new organizations skewing the stats

one of the statistic threads mentioned that most of the people that read and post on this board signed up in 2000-2004. therefore there is a larger percentage of posters that are posting from work.utilizing IP matching, even though i am actually 27, it might put me in the "older" bracket because of the demographics of where i work. I am one of the youngest employees there.?[Edited on October 6, 2008 at 8:03 PM. Reason : .]
