Patric Shaw was born on a British Army base in West Germany, after spending time in Cyprus, Singapore, Malaysia, and England, his family settled in Australia where he studied Fine Art and Painting. Patric Shaw’s career as fashion photographer came about while he was working as a fashion illustrator for Vogue Australia. He moved to Paris in 1992 and began a career in fashion photography. Patric currently lives in New York with his wife and two children.
Well that pretty much sums up his life. One day I hope to meet him. Maybe he can show me a thing or two." |

I don't understand the point of "high fashion." Nobody is ever going to wear the stuff except to strut down the runway once. I can understand that it's a form of art, but I just seems so useless and needlessly pretentious. I mean, at least you can put a painting on your wall and look at it, what can you do with these silly looking clothes after they've gone up and down the runway? 10/7/2008 4:26:06 PM |

High fashion stuff trickles down into designer wear then regular wear then outlet malls. You won't have the outlandish designer tricks of the same dress from the runway, but most of the time the predominate design features and colors usually stay the same. Usually it takes about 2-4 years for high fashion stuff to get down outlet mall crap, but now it's becoming faster down to 12-18 months.
With ready to wear stuff, you'll see fashion cycles with the potential of being 8-12 weeks fast to keep on top of the market. Good for the market and designers, usually bad for consumers since we'll have such incredibly fast fads and trends. Well bad for the fashion minded people (err stuck up IMO).
Business wear and casual wear is a different class than the high fashion crazy stuff and yes, most of those are still considered one of a kind dresses made for people who have too much money than sense, like Hollywood people. But even the big fashion designers sets the trends in the industry for everyone else down follow and clone for the rest of us.10/7/2008 5:04:16 PM |
