That would be a combination of piss poor genetics, a lifelong crappy diet, and a conditioned response that garners the most laughs for a minimal effort. 10/7/2008 10:57:46 PM |

Spastic movements and loud noises stimulate the mammalian part of our brains. It's called the "Dane Cook effect". Plus, fat people are inherently funny, as they are a societal underdog. An underdog that has bad stuff happen to him/her activates our sympathetic sensibilities and causes laughter. 10/9/2008 7:24:45 PM |

I've noticed there are different schools in comedy - what is your favorite format of delivery that you see is the most satisfying in your opinion? 10/9/2008 7:48:49 PM |

What would Sam Kinison do? 10/9/2008 7:49:06 PM |

I love a good hybrid theory. I like to see very mimetic (show, don't tell) comedy that is only tip-of-the-iceberg in terms of how "blue" it gets (sexual innuendos at most) that is for the most part true to life, but isn't afraid to take things absurd. At this point, I also prefer collaborative comedy to stand-up, since stand-up usually eats you alive, even if you are a success. There is absolutely no regulation; your material can get stolen with little recourse and the politics of climbing the ladder usually eschews some of the better talents, for the aggressive people. 10/9/2008 7:52:58 PM |

Sam Kinison was 100% committed to delivering a joke and he had a lot of writing talent. He was not afraid of the cultural norms, mores, and folkways of the time, which is a lot of problems contemporary talent runs into nowadays. There is no more envelope to push. The letter has been sent. 10/9/2008 7:55:25 PM |
