Ryan Kelly, a 6-foot-10 forward from Raleigh (NC) Ravenscroft School, will announce his intention to play for Duke University tonight at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU’s Recruiting Insider, according to sources.

Kelly selected Duke over Notre Dame, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Georgetown.

Ravenscroft head coach Kevin Billerman said he did not know which school Kelly was going to choose.
“I don’t know,” he said Thursday afternoon. “He is with his parents on their way to Charlotte (to an ESPNU studio).”

Is he a tall white guy who likes to play on the perimeter?

Coach K is racist.

Thanks for the proof of your basketball omniscience, but that's not what I was referring to.

Maybe I should have been more elucidative.

I don't hate much and really don't hate anything/one outside of sports. Just Duke basketball, Philadelphia sports and the Yankees..

Thanks for clearing that up, I didn't realize bad journalism bothered you so much. I guess you dont get a chance to read the N&O/Charlotte Observer sports columnist to often.

Anyways bad call by Kelly imo, I always thought he'd fit in better at a Davidson or Wake where he'd actually be a star and 4 year starter... and get those academics he keeps talking about that are important.

You mean the recent big man success stories of Josh McRoberts and Shavlik Randolph in the NBA aren't helping them get recruits?

Well quite honestly Id go to Duke, if anything, for the academic education alone. Fuck the bullshit a degree from Duke will land you a job anywhere. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fucking moron.

Anyway, UNC already has a huge 7 foot guy who LOVES to run the floor. That fits perfectly in to Roys system. I dont see it as a big loss for UNC.

If you're a highly-recruited bball player, I'd think your main goal is to get to the NBA, not getting a degree.

being highly recruited at one level isnt directly proportional to being recruited for the next.

You have to prove yourself in college first.

Although Im sure there are plenty of idiots in the NBA who dont know jack shit about how to manage their own money, nor make well informed and educated decisions about day to day life. Oh, that's something you definitely pick up in college though.

you don't have to go to dook to know how to do that. Basically every decent college will teach you that.

^it's also not a big loss because they already have 3 PF committed this year and the two from last year's class. their front court won't miss him.

This guy is going to be a stud, though!!!

The Wear brothers will be equal combined to the Plumlee brothers. But Mason Plumlee is the best player of the four... Miles sucks though.

they may suck, but I think John Henson, Ed Davis, and Tyler Zeller are better than the Plumlees and Ryan Kelly.

it's all depend on the system IMO. Zeller will probably suck if he plays for coach K cause his defense is suspect and he won't get to run as much, which is his strong point.

honestly, i'm not completely sold on Kelly yet... would much rather have a big center like Josh Smith. but i don't mind winning recruit battles against Roy
