WTF is up?
2003 Accord. 92k miles, Automatic. I personally change the oil every 3k-4k miles.
The car was semi-flooded in the Crabtree parkinglot a few years ago, but was supposedly completely fixed and hasnt given ANY trouble since then.
Right now, CEL is on, and I cant rev past 2800 RPM...at 2800 the car sputters until I let off the gas to drop the RPMs.
Anyone have any idea what may be wrong? 10/13/2008 9:21:52 AM |

It could be in a limp mode. Check the code. 10/13/2008 9:36:56 AM |

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=94169 they're like $30 in store on capital. if you work on your car, you should own one. 10/13/2008 9:43:36 AM |

Do you mean you can't rev past 2800 rpm while in Park/Neutral? Or while driving?
And yeah, it could definitely be in limp mode. Fast idling while in Park?
If that CEL is on then the very first thing you need to do is check error codes. 10/13/2008 9:48:41 AM |

there is no "could" about it
its def. in limp mode. possibly meaning whatever CEL is on, is a pretty big deal. 10/13/2008 10:15:30 AM |

If you're changing the oil every 3k to 4k, then you're wasting money. You can go 5k no problems. I personally go 10k to 15k on my Accord (same year) but I use synthetic and the best filters I can lay my hands on. 10/13/2008 10:20:48 AM |

my parents had a van that they never changed the oil on, just new filters.
it ran like a top and was super clean inside. new filters though.

did they add oil to make up for the oil lost when they replaced the filter? 10/13/2008 8:19:10 PM |

^got to, there's no way they didn't top-off the oil after filter changes. 10/13/2008 8:40:25 PM |

even if they didnt, its like max 1 quart or so you lost. unless the motor was burning/leaking oil, it most likely wouldnt make a difference. 10/13/2008 9:24:00 PM |

yup.
it's amazing. people bitch about the old 3.0L mitsu 6cyl engines, but i never had a problem with it. well other than the SHIT valve cover gaskets. it started every time, was relatively quiet, decent on gas, pretty quick/decent enough power. i miss that thing.

you know a oil filter works like <1 minute after you install it and the engine is running before it gets clogged enough to just bypass it.... 10/14/2008 8:22:56 AM |
