Since there is already a Phillies/Dodgers topic, I figured it was only fair to start a Red Sox/Rays topic -- especially considering this is the more interesting series.

Go Rays!

Thoughts on the Sox going with Wakefield tonight? Francona seems to be taking a bunch of heat from reporters for pitching Timmy tonight, but I don't think it's that bad of an idea.

No matter what happens tonight, they'll have Dice-K, Beckett and Lester for the next three games -- no point in pitching them on little rest.

Go Rays!

It's cool seeing some guys that played for the Bulls playing for a trip to the World Series.

what is wrong with the red sox. i have never seen them look as bad as they have the past 2 games. They can't score hardly any reasons and pitching is not doing anything. I don't understand. Anybody have any ideas???

Beckett is hurt worse than the Sox are letting on. He hasn't been the same this season his fastball has lost velocity. Lester just had a bad inning but in the playoffs thats magnifyed.

The Rays are hot their bats are on fire and the Red Sox are not stringing hits together. Ortiz has been abysmal as has Ellsbury. Face it this season the Rays are just the better team they proved it in the regular season and they are proving it in the ALCS. We need another miracle comeback. It starts Thursday with Dice-K. The thing thats scary with the Rays is they aren't going to be losing many players in the offseason. They have Longoria and Upton locked up for a few years, a young pitching staff, their key will be to keep the pen in shape.

The Red Sox need at least one more arm in the rotation and a few setup men, plus they need to seek a possible replacement for Mike Lowell who is undergoing hip surgery. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing them move Lowery to 3rd and going after Orlando Cabrera for short he is the best short stop we have had since the Nomar glory days.

Beckett is the new Kerry Wood....throws really hard and is always hurt and is really overrated.

This would be amazing if the Rays win.

^^ Funny, I don't recall Wood winning a World Series let alone 2 plus a World Series MVP. Something nobody on the Cardinals pitching staff can claim.

Since there is already a every single game in baseball topics(greater than 100), I figured it was only fair to start a Red Sox/Rays topic -- especially considering this is the more interesting series.

Go Rays!

^I thought about posting in there but I figured I would be considered a troll.

Then I thought about starting a new thread but I figured I would be considered a n00b.

Then, I just decided that a n00b > troll. amirite?

Would make a new topic but since I'm a noob didn't want to get pwnt... anybody see the greatest game in recent memory tonight? I'm pulling for Tampa but I can appreciate a great game like tonight. I don't know why they didn't pull Wheeler after he allowed all those hits, and I don't know how the stars aligned to allow the Red Sox win. Great game though.

Because Maddon is an idiot. It was funny to see all those fans leaving before the game ended.

And the best game in recent memory was game 7 of the 2001 WS...

"Technical difficulties prevent start of Game 6 from being aired

Associated Press

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- TBS had technical difficulties that prevented it from showing the first 20 minutes of Game 6 of the American League Championship Series between Boston and Tampa Bay on Saturday night.

The game started at 8:08 p.m., but the broadcast didn't begin until 8:28 p.m., when Carlos Pena, the seventh batter of the game, walked in the bottom of the first. TBS then showed a replay of a home run by B.J. Upton, the previous batter, that put the Rays ahead 1-0.

"Two circuit breakers in our Atlanta transmission operations tripped, causing the master router and its backup -- which are necessary to transmit any incoming feed outbound -- to shut down," TBS spokesman Sal Petruzzi said in a statement.

"This impacted our live feed from being distributed to any of the other networks in the Turner portfolio and caused the delay in our coverage," Petruzzi said. "Both our primary and backup routers were impacted by this problem. We apologize to baseball fans for this mishap that caused a delay in our coverage."

Major League Baseball spokesman Rich Levin said MLB was unaware there was a problem until the broadcast failed to come on the air. No consideration was given to delaying the start of the game because the starting pitchers already had warmed up, Levin said.

When the top of the second inning began, broadcaster Chip Caray said: "We again apologize profusely for the technical difficulties we had back in Atlanta. You haven't missed much."

In place of the game, TBS had televised an episode of "The Steve Harvey Show." A crawl on the screen ran repeatedly, saying: "We are experiencing technical difficulties."

"We couldn't put anything out because the live transmission had gone down," TBS spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said. "You're not able to put up the audio of the game because you couldn't get the feed out."

Tampa Bay, seeking its first World Series appearance, led the best-of-seven series 3-2 after wasting a 7-0, seventh-inning lead in Game 5 and losing 8-7 to the defending champion Red Sox.

At the Cask N Flagon outside Fenway Park, manager Mike Fusco said the hour -- from the pregame show until the game was restored -- "wasn't real fun."

"People were in a little uproar because they thought we didn't put the game on. They were just screaming at us to put it on and try all the other stations -- Fox, TNT," Fusco said.

Finally, Fusco said the staff had to use a PA system to explain the technical problems to the capacity crowd of 700.

Some customers yelled for them to at least put the game on the radio, but the bar didn't have one.

"People watched 'Steve Harvey' until it came on," Fusco said."
