just got back from being gone about a week to NYC and walked out to drive my car earlier today. The remote lights up and acts like it wants to unlock the car and disengage the alarm but it doesnt.
i can get into the car with the keys and the alarm goes off of course, even does when i kick the tires so the wiring is fine. when i try to start its got a kill shut off so it wont start.
any ideas?
its a 2000 MR2 spyder and no clue what kind of security other than Viper, it was on when i bought it. 10/15/2008 4:37:05 PM |

there's probably a way to manually disarm it so you might want to try google unless you have the book for it laying around.

pull out the brain, then find the ignition relay and bypass(short) it... 10/15/2008 10:03:26 PM |

so i found the valet button, turns out the button doesnt work...i then cut the wires and tried just touching them together to complete the circuit and that didnt work either.
basically i have a car that serves no purpose but to make the sound of an alarm at the moment
if anyoneeeeeeeeeeeee knows anything about them please please please help
i cant drive anywhere without it until later this weekend when I have to go back and get my 8mpg jeep 10/16/2008 4:21:59 PM |

Check the ignition fuse (or relay) you might have popped it when you shorted the wires together... but more likely you missed the path...

just pull out the battery to shut it up
then remove it and then chalk this one up in the lose column 10/16/2008 7:28:06 PM |

^^^how do you know the valet switch doesn't work? it won't turn the alarm off just by flipping it if it's already going off. you have to do the proper key sequence. i'm not exactly sure what the key sequence is for the viper but i thought the on-off 3 times with the key in the ignition was correct. have you tried calling the installer? 10/16/2008 9:09:53 PM |

everything you just asked or told me has been covered, the switch isnt even there anymore, its just the wires...and i tried the proper sequence as they told me to
i doubt the fuse blew, why would the alarm still work if it was blown? doesnt make much sense...
i checked them and they are fine...starting to think the keypad is faulty and i need a new one...butttt since i dont have a toggle for teh valet switch i cant install/program a new one.
this sucks, hard...anyone know ANYTHING about them that can come by and take a look? or give me more advice, and yes i have called the company many many times
