did a search and surprisingly no thread on this

I'm just going through this for the first time ever... and some quick thoughts:

- best soundtrack for a television show ever??

- it's pretty sweet to recognize so many minor characters in this show because of their success now

- everything Bill says is hilarious

and yes I know it's [old] because I've seen it mentioned before in tv show threads but I just wanted to see some other people's opinions

amazing show. I was lucky and watched every episode on tv and was pissed when they took it off. I watch the dvds all the time.

and yes, bill is amazing.

The DVDs were pretty expensive so I downloaded it first because I couldn't put up that kind of cash on a show I had never seen before..

but, there's a very likely chance it will be purchased in the future

My wife turned me on to this so I got the box set for her.
As someone who was of that age "almost" during that time I'd say it's right on the money.
Skuz graduated HS in '77
Although, I'd rank "my so called life" a little higher on the reality scale, even though it takes place in a later time period. It's a VERY well written show and very good acting by the entire cast.

and Linda what's hername was and is....hot.

i'd recommend getting the box set. it's got a whole lot of special features, hilarious commentaries by pretty much every cast/crew member, and tons of other things. currently Cif82 has my set and is getting through an episode a day. probably the most i've ever bonded with my dad over a tv show.

I also recently discovered this show. The annoying thing was knowing it was cancelled.

The last episode with the "girl" of unusual classification was a poor choice of story lines for a show in danger of cancellation...

Its like a 13 hour movie, I wanted it to go on.

yea this show was amazing. sad it was a one season wonder

if you liked, it you may also like the show 'undeclared'.. it wasn't nearly as good as freaks and geeks but some of the same folks were involved... it was entertaining to me at least

this show is gold as fuck. I watched the first few episodes with aimorris and downloaded it myself as well. I can't get over how funny Bill is just when he's having a normal conversation

The main girl is the love interest in Grandma's Boy.

And Biff Tannen plays the health teacher.

I'm borrowing federal's copy right now and the show is great. That scene where Jason Segel is doing try-outs for Dimension is brutal and and so well done. Almost as embarrassing as Ricky Gervais begging for his job on the Office finale.

yea, the writing on the show was great, and the casting was absolutely perfect for the personas they wanted for their characters. I never get tired of it. Ignoring the fact they they did not get picked up for another season, sam's voice changed not long after which might have interfered. But without thinking about that, they had so many possibilities on this show with such a large group of characters that I am always said when I watch it straight through and get to the last episode heh.

is it the same exact thing?

I read a review of the DVDs earlier, that is an insane amount of commentary for 18 episodes. This will definitely be a Christmas gift this year.

i would assume it's the same...they might do it in a different color or something to differentiate, but the original deluxe addition was a yearbook with two extra discs, including the table read where sarah hagan accidentally ad-libs "she fornicates it"

If you like Freaks and Geeks and want to watch another high school drama that never made it past the first season I'd recommend 'Life as we know it'.

I used to watch this show when It was actually on NBC, I have all the episodes on my computer too. My favorite one is where Daniel tries to become a punk, I think it might be the first time a black flag song has been played on network tv.

I just finished the last episode and this show was incredible. F&G made me remember how I fell in love with music and that, unknowingly, my early life revolved around discovering new bands and styles. That detail to music put this show over the top of all shows about growing up.

Remind me to give you your DVDs back today federal.

I watched the pilot episode of Undeclared the other day. It was okay and maybe it gets a lot better but the characters aren't as likable as Freaks and Geeks.

yea, maybe ill give it a try some other time, but that one didnt click with me as well

^^ And I have to agree with that.

I think for the most part, Apatow has a knack for creating characters we can relate to and characters we generally become interested in which sucks people in more. That always does more for me than simply relying on actual events and forced humor as much if that makes any sense.

Since she was in f&g, this is relevant. And hot.

She's also the one who brings the fake note to class so that Lindsay can go on the keg run.
