but once i was running in this neighborhood and these dudes in a pick up truck pulled up really slow behind me and said something in a weird "we don't open our mouth very wide" kind of way....



nothing happened which makes me think i'm actually really intimidating up close.

Also allow me to point out the pepper spray misconception, and I'm speaking from experience having been sprayed in training with the riot canister crap which SUCKS. Yes it sucks, and yes it is painful....but it will more than likely NOT incapacitate someone totally. It wont bring a 240lb man to his knees crying. It will burn and affect vision, but you can still see, albeit painfully, by squinting. You can also still fight and you can still grab and hold someone. When we got sprayed we had to then run a course that involved fighting, hitting and kicking bags and affecting an arrest. So its absolutely possible to continue to function as a threat after being sprayed. They teach us this because the bad guys can do it also. And lastly, keep in mind that when you spray someone in close confines you WILL most likely get some on you, so you will probably have similar handicaps. Ladies who carry pepper spray need to know it is NOT a threat stopping magic bullet. I say this because I care.

^ True, but if you get him in the eyes with the pepper spray, it will more at the very least cause him pause just enough allowing you kick him in the balls and run the fuck away. Make sure you carry a cell phone with you as well to call for help.

Preferential in that order - should alleviate much if any worries you may have by evening the playing field. It also depends a lot on your neighborhood, imo.

Not the brightest idea in general, but if you're going to do it, do it with a lethal weapon or a taser. OC is not that great at incapacitating, as Republican has said. In NC, imminent threat of rape or great bodily harm both justify use of lethal force, so make sure whatever you have is actually capable of either completely incapacitating someone or permanently incapacitating them.

According to your logic, criminals do not understand the importance of wearing several layers of clothing to ward off the cold.

You're best bet is 3-4'' buck knife. Wait until your opponent has overpowered you and is distracted. Then pull out the blade and sink it into his thigh. Immediately twist the blade as hard as you can in either direction opening the wound and possibly getting the blade back. Then simply run.
