I'd usually like to break em into some kind of grouping other than "horror" but, you know what I mean right

I suggest "Murder Party": It has a nice Evil Dead nature to how it makes up for being made by a bunch of guys who just got together and said "hey lets like, make a movie or something"
A three or four heavy shock laughs, evokes nothing close to "disturbing". just sorta gay in a way that's just great.

"Aliens" might be my favorite movie ever, but the first one is the choice to make here having the first time viewing creep out factor of roughly "six trillion exploding Suns" . And it's got some average replay value.

Disney's "Black Hole" and/or "Event Horizon" for that "Fucked forever in outer space with evil by science" feeling

The original "Night of the Living Dead" is actually good enough to enjoy rather than "appreciate" and provides classic spooknight fodder as well as a few "ah so that's where that came from" moments

Nothing close to a genre filler, but if you would like to have lingering troubled thoughts, you might have your prescription filled with "Twelve Monkies" or however it's spelled. As well as "Jacob's Ladder", "Angel Heart" or "Serpent and the Rainbow"

If you're into just enjoying a movie even if it's not good at all (rather than because it's not good at all), I suggest "People Under the Stairs" (gimp hit in face with rock), "Ghoulies" (toilet terror), "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" (Popcorn,clowns), "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (???, things moving outside in the dark)

"Silver Bullet" (Gary Busey, Werewolves, Bottlerockets, Turbine-engine powered wheelchair, Second creepiest preacher ever)

"Poltergeist" (#1 creepiest preacher ever, televisions, ZELDA)

"The Exorcist" (captain howdy)

"Amityville Horror" the first one (flying pig)

"Prince of Darkness" John Carpenter, 1987 (I forget, time fear, devil stuff, evil spitting)

I accidentally bought this one thinking it was the re-make. I bring it home to watch with my dad because we like horror movies. It starts to play and the quality is terrible, there's the 70's orange-ish hue and flute-heavy musical score and I'm like ~!@#$@%#~. So we watch it anyway, start laughing hysterically at the bad acting, bad music, shadows of the boom on the wall and at Officer "tiny hat." When they made the girls get naked and asked them to piss themselves I had to turn it off because it was getting awkward and was NOT a good father/daughter movie to watch anymore

To add to the thread I am a fan of Jacob's Ladder, The Shining, both Amityvilles, Hellraisers, Texas Chainsaw Massacres, and Night of the Living Dead.

I also have a compulsion to watch Pet Sematary whenever it comes on TV. . . I'm going to get you Rachel muahhahahhahhahhahha

House of the Devil was REALLY well done.


I picked up Friday the 13th parts 1-4 at Wally World for 13 bucks tonight. Pretty stoked. Also, Shawn of the Dead was in the 5 dollar bin, so that went on the list.


Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer was disturbing, but not truly "scary." Cannibal Holocaust is the same way. Pretty gruesome stuff there.

I'm going to watch some old Universal Classics in the comings days/nights, as well as a few classics I haven't ever seen... Last House on the Left, Rosemary's Baby, Evil Dead 1 (seen the others)... and I want to check out Zombie's renditions of Halloween 1 & 2.

These were alright (sans Dracula AD 1972), but the plots just go so monotonous after awhile. Definitely worth checking out if you're into Dracula. Also, in many of them, Peter Cushing plays Van Helsing... so it's Grand Moff Tarkin vs. Count Dooku, for your Star Wars nerds...
