I'd be pissed if I was a resident of Alaska, I guess. Maybe not though, since if she was VP, I'm sure Alaska would benefit more than if a senator from Delaware became VP.

Kinda like how I don't like Pat McCrory because of some of the stuff he did while mayor in Charlotte, including bad spending, but at the same time, if he becomes governor, maybe Charlotte would finally get some money for roads since normally 90% of that funding goes to the triangle

Im sure the folks living in Alaska are just as pissed about all of this coming out now...b/c it was sealed up only until this past Friday.

Having your daughters come along on government business trips and not staying in a Holiday or Comfort Inn, she puts all of them in the Hyatt and other 5 star hotels......she's come from a state where the median family income around $25,500 per individual....and she charged over $21,000 to charges for her daughters..AND she was paid a total of $3,000 in per diem money when in fact she was staying at home with her family.

Per diem money is $$ you go on sanctioned business trips....like when I was in NCSU's marching band we would get per diem $$ for going to the ACC tournament, away football games, etc.....but who in the hell claims per diem money for staying at home with their family??? Lacking judgment and being able to oversee tax payer money is clearly not Palin's forte......so what makes her think she would be able to help regulate millions and MILLIONS of taxpayer's $$ from all 50 states and not just her own..??? Laughable doesnt begin to describe it!!

^I doubt there are very many companies whose shareholders look kindly on employees expensing trips for their children in order for them to "be close to their parents," on company time. Like I said, I don't know why anyone would freak out about it, but it's wrong.

Well, she was wrong to do it because she knew or should have known the rules.

But, I think there should be a lot more latitude given than that. I doubt she did this for every trip, and it seems reasonable as a 'now and then' perk to alleviate the family stresses of the job. Whether for salesmen in private industry, or a government official, I think both would be better off with their people having better family lives, and an occasional family tag-along shouldn't be a problem, especially for jobs with 75%+ travel. I think the main issue here is that they are supposed to be the tag team maverick duo that is cutting unnecessary govt spending, yet she is no different than any other politician.
