What are some of your childhood trick-or-treat memories, good or bad? What was your favorite costume? When was your biggest candy haul? Ever get pranked or play pranks?

My favorite costume was Shredder, homemade with a shitload of aluminum foil, back in 1990. My biggest haul came from a friend's blue-collar neighborhood in '92. The houses were smaller and close together, so we could hit more houses, and I wound up with half a pillowcase full. My 'hood was full of old people, who mostly gave out apples, 1-2 pieces of weird candy that only old people like, or raisins, and the houses were far apart and the streets hilly. I never played any pranks but one year we had the classic smoldering bag of doodie on our porch. As they sped away my mom yelled "Don't you want some candy?"

Well, at least they didn't dress you up like livestock and rape you.

when i was really young my mom made us matching mermaid costumes out of small paper plates (to look like scales) spray painted glittery green. that was always my favorite costume for some reason...

every year a close friend of our family would have a huge halloween party. they lived out in the country and had A LOT of land so they'd do a hayride through the woods with scary (well, to kids) stuff along the way, back to this shelter/building with a bonfire and tons of food and games and stuff. it was always so much fun and i always really looked forward to it. in highschool i got to participate in something similar (through theatre) at poplar grove plantation in wilmington, except it was less kid friendly and scarier...
