it's the beak or whatever. i can usually get it out with tweezers or small needle nose pliers.

Yea, I was using small tweezers and grabbing at the base, i eventually just ripped most of it off with a little bit still stuck in there. The tick wasn't engorged yet, I think she probably picked it up earlier today.

just pour some alcohol on it to disenfect and the dogs skin will push the rest out.
