I was running on E at around 6pm tonight, and filled up at the kangaroo at the end of gorman on tyron rd. My car ran alright until I got where I was eating dinner, and now it won't start, so I'm wondering if I got bad gas I know the problem isn't with the battery or the starter, because the engine will keep turning over. every now and then it even looks like it's going to start for a second, but the car always dies right away I was wondering if anyone else got gas from there and had a problem, or if anyone has advice on how to fix it

Probably OPEC retaliating for us driving up the demand for oil and then watching prices fall through the floor when our economy took a poop.

10/26/2008 11:36:58 AM
maybe you blew your fuel pump by running on empty too often

year make model? it's pretty much either not getting fuel or not getting sparkdepending on the type of intake, you can take off the air hat or whatever and turn it over and see if it's getting fuel.if it's getting fuel then find out why it's not getting spark.[Edited on October 26, 2008 at 4:11 PM. Reason : turn the key to on and don't try to start it. have someone listen for the fuel pump to prime up.][Edited on October 26, 2008 at 4:11 PM. Reason : fff]

Pull a plug wire and make sure you have spark. (hold it close to the plug and look for a blue flame)Fuel Filter could be clogged. (Replace it.) <-my guessFuel Pump fuse could have blown. (listen for fuel pump)Fuel pump could be dead/weak. (Pull a fuel hose and make sure it's getting to the engine, don't ignite yourself)

Fuel filter coulda sucked up some trash from the bottom of the fuel tank as a result of running on E.
10/26/2008 5:11:47 PM
^^yeah. gas cools the pump.
10/26/2008 5:13:43 PM
^^ riiiiight, because when the tank is full the fuel pump sucks gas from the top.

Gas does, in fact, cool most electric pumps. But unless you run completely out frequently it's not an issue. As for trash, running low might flush it down, who knows. Fuel filters do clog though, regardless of filling habits. My car does pull fuel from the top(or, rather, slightly off the bottom), I made it that way. In fact, lots of cars do so they don't get the dregs.[Edited on October 26, 2008 at 6:14 PM. Reason : .]
