Get away from the city if you plan on going anywhere without rush hour (which begins at 3am and stops at 2am). My last visit to Callie was the best when we went to the beach and had a cookout, that's always awesome.

I'll probably take a trip with my school next summer. I'm a film major, so it's really easily the best option. for every 1 film job in say, new york, there are TONS AND TONS more in LA.

Well as long as you don't mind be the coffee bitch for 10 years...honestly...you'll get a job with some well known producer and think you've got it made...until you realize that there are 100 coffee bitches in front of you. L.A. has more film jobs, but every single person that I know that I DIDN'T go to high school with, moved to L.A. to be in the entertainment industry.Just sayin
10/29/2008 1:21:26 AM
go start some shit wif a copand whip him with a beltyou'll be tossed in jail for your bullshit
10/29/2008 1:22:46 AM
^^Yeah I know how shit worksreally, it's all about actually doing shit and networking.Film only has the reputation of being a shitty major because:A) TONS of film majors are slackers.B)The degree itself is virtually useless.but the people that actually apply themselves during college like myself and a handful of others and get involved making films and make a good reel and network and all that good stuff have better shots than the countless slackers that help give the major a bad reputation. And I think I might end up with three majors anyways, I'll be OK
10/29/2008 3:55:45 AM
I'm sure you'll be ok...and I'm not even talking about film majors because I know plenty of people who went to the USC film school...never mind majored in it...and do jack shit... but I also know talented people who are said coffee bitches. Now given, he's the personal coffee bitch for a fairly well known director, but for some reason, it just never turns into something. Honestly I think this industry has gone wacky...it used to be about quality...quality writing, quality directing, quality acting....and now it's about big names getting favors and producing garbage.I've been on enough sets and know enough 'insider info' to know that there aren't that many people left in Hollywood that respect any aspect of the craft. Case in point, and without naming names, I know for a fact that an Oscar and Emmy nominated, Golden Globe winning current working actress was turned down, more than once, to present an Emmy at this years awards and INSTEAD, a certain 'reality tv' personality was given the job of presenting the award.I mean if you are about big budget, cgi intensive, big name, marketing based buzz factor type..., then I guess you'd be in the right frame of mind but otherwise....
